What is the best pool hall you ever played in? And where is it?

I used to love Jillians in Boston just a sea of tables lacked the talent

Amsterdam Billiards another sea of tables with talent..

Chicago Billiards in New Haven a dump but a dump with action and seroius charecter.

Renessiance Billirads in Quincy,MA my favorite hangout. Tons of action all the top players in the area showed up for a Tuesaday night tournament. Side action galore. I'll never forget when the owner put up 5K added to a Joss tournament. Everybody showed up like 140 people. East coast, West Coast, Canadians, Over seas players that was a amazing weekend

Thanks for your input. I played in Chicago, Ill. There are some good pool halls up there. I will leave it at that.
Many Regards,

I wish I could list a memorable hall I have been too. Slim pickings in these parts. I can say one of the oddest places I have been was a 4 story hall in Seattle, can't remember the name but it was massive.

Hey Barboxbank,
As long as you like a place that is what matters! Thanks.

That sure sounds like a great pool hall! Where is it located? Thanks.

Sorry I didnt see this sooner. Bellflower, CA is in southern california close to Los Angeles. The list of players who are there on a regular basis is of an amazingly high caliber. Oscar and Ernesto Dominguez, Santos Sambajon, Louis Ulrich, Jose Parica, Morro Paez, Dave Hemmah... You get the idea.

Yep, I lived in Quincy then and that was my room. Loved it.
If memory serves me, Alain Martel double-dipped Ginky for the win.

Eric's on Airport Blvd. in Austin, Texas.

No big screen tvs, just a badass jukebox, great tables and really good players.

Austin had/has a ton of great pool rooms but Eric's was the old school pool church.

best poolroom I played in

the nicest and also the best room I ever played in was THE MINNEAPOLIS RECREATION LOCATED IN MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA. the building was torn down in the mid fifties. the first thing you noticed walking in was the 40 foot cigar counter with 6 very large humidors then the 6 chair barbershop, looking to the right the 24 stool lunch counter with 4 wooden booths. now the good part - 27 brunswick 9 footers - 2 10 foot snooker tables if the tables were being used you could either climb the stairs or ride the elevator to the second floor where you had a choice of 13 nine footers, 2 5x10 pool tables and 5 6x12 snooker along side of 6 5x10 billiard tables. there is more, taking another ride to the 3rd floor you would find a very large room with bleachers on 2 sides and 1 9 footer in the center. may I also mention that in the basement an 8 lane bowling alley - 2 and 3 floors also had 8 lanes. such a shame this room was torn down to make way for an unneeded parking lot.

About all I can say about this pool room is WOW!

Sad!

It does sound like they took paradise and put up a parking lot!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Q-Masters in VA Beach, which claims to have more tables than any other hall in the USA.

It's got it all - 72 tables with Simonis 860, good food, 2 full bars, back room for the action players, rich history/decor, a house pro, cue repair, and a wait staff of young honies to distract the hell outta you!

I was wondering the same thing. Q-masters is the best room I've played in by far! I look forward to the US Open every year and going to Q-masters is part of my trip to the US Open!

I hear all of the old stories about how great Eric's was back in the day. Now it is called the Grand and I consider it to be a dump. The tables were pretty thrashed and the music was so loud my ears were ringing. Only went in there once and doubt I will ever go back.

Hmmmmm,
Different opinions about the same place!

I believe he called it the old school pool church simply because of the decline after new owners took over and all of the really strong players no longer go there. Pretty much anyone who can really play is at Skinny Bobs in Round Rock.

Exactly.. The place had its day but from the late 90's on up the place was in steady decline.
But man when I got there in 91 it was a classic spot to get a game.

I also usually went to Round Rock to play in the leagues when I left in 03.
