Many of us are wondering what happened to the Cuetable software. Additionally, we are also concerned about even going to your site, due to google reporting it as having/had malware. It's reporting this as of 2 weeks ago and also reports that your site has infected many other sites.

Fred (Cornerman) says that he alerted you of issues a few weeks ago, but we've seen no updates.

So.... couple of questions, if you would be so kind as to answer them for the pool community.

1. Have you addressed the malware isssues, including ridding your site of the offending code, contacting google and other sites and letting them know, so they can take your name off of the list, and have you contacted the other sites that you may have infected, so they are aware of it?

2. Is your site safe to visit now

3. What is the status of the cuetable?

4. Are forums such as AZB and onepocket.org ever going to be able to embed the cuetable, like in the past? Meaning export the cuetable code, embed it in a post and be able to view it inline, and when the cuetable is clicked, it will take you to the pool.bz site so it can be edited

5. What is the story on the hundreds and hundreds of current embedded cuetables in posts going back years ago? Will they be able to show the layout or not? Or are all those posts worthless now?

6. Depending on your answer to 3 and 4, have you reached out to the forum owners - Mike Howerton and Steve Booth of the aforementioned sites, and held a dialog with them to let them know what the status of the cuetable is, as it was heavily promoted and stickied on these sites.

Thanks you for any information you can give us.

It's my feeling that because of AZB and Onepocket.org, your cuetable has had the success it has. Realistically, the people at those 2 sites are the only ones that ever used it. I've followed your site and very few people use it there, so I would guess that 95% of all cuetable use is generated by these 2 sites, with probably 85 % of the 95%, being used by onepocket.org members. We used to have several daily discussions there about onepocket shots and what would you do scenarios.

Because the cuetable has been virtually unusable for the past year or more, we have turned to taking screenshots from DVD's or tapes and using Greenshot (a screencapture utility) to diagram the shots and using arrows to show our choices of making the shot.

I thought the cuetable was a extremely valuable tool for the pool community, but because of the unreliability of it over the past several years, we have had to adjust and find other methods of diagramming shots. Over the past several years, you would apparently make changes to the tool periodically, and without any kind of warning, it would start doing funny things or not working properly. When I would visit your site looking for some kind of explanation of why it suddenly stopped working, there would be no information on your site alerting your users that you had made changes and that you were aware it was not working properly. I would even send you PM's at your site, but they went unanswered.

It is only common sense, that if you push out new builds of your software, that you should alert users of that being done (Change logs are done for 95% of all software out there, letting users know what was done to a build/version) It's obvious reason is to let users know you made changes and what they were, so if they experience problems, they could easily tie that into the fact you had just changed the program. Because you wouldn't do that, some of us technicians had to rule out all possibilities of it being something else, before finally pinning it down to the fact you had probably changed the software and that is why it wasn't working. On top of that, even though we would alert you of the issues we were experiencing, you would never reply, so we would have no idea if and when it was ever going to be fixed.

Once again, I want to stress that I feel your cuetable is a invaluable tool for the pool community. But only if it is available and supported by the developer. Everyone I know of is very hesitant of using it now, because of the non-existent communication from the developer. It's not to late to change that, but your product has been hurt badly by the past issues, which I have mentioned above.

If you have abandoned the cuetable, please let us know that. If your business model has changed to where it will only work on your site, please let us know that. Us as the users that have made your cuetable tool the success it has had, it is my opinion, that we deserve some kind of explanation so we can adjust our methods of what we will use in the future to diagram pool shots to discuss layouts of this sport we all love.

Best wishes either way,

A devoted and appreciative user of your wonderful tool

I've never received any replies before, anyone is welcome to give it a try, maybe they will have better luck.
It appears that the last time Wei was online was 10/18/2009. Since Wei created the cuetable software, my guess is that he's no longer supporting the software.

Just because he hasn't appeared that he's logged on here...you can read the forums without being logged in doesn't mean anything. He has his own website. Him visiting this site has no bearing on his software and whether he is or isn't developing it.

Apparently your posts are just opinions not based on any factual evidence. I am looking for feedback from him or someone that has spoken to him about this, people guessing doesn't answer anything.

You're welcome to speculate here but it doesn't address any of the questions.

Thanx for posting this thread, Cali.
I miss Neil's 'what would you do here' threads....
...I jump on them like a dog on a bone..

Maybe it's time for a new side-line, Cali....
...but please don't make the table cloth 'red'..

This guy never answered me a single time.
About him imo is not one single comment worth.
from what i heard several offered also help- but he seems to be just rigid and stubborn and giving a shit that he now also damaging his users.

I just spoke to Wei about his cuetable site, pool.bz. He is still having security/hacking issues he cannot seem to solve. As a friend of Wei's, I can say he is a stand up guy who could use some help. If there is anybody in the community that thinks they might be be able to advise him, please contact me.

I hope someone can help him with his site. He had the BEST site for interactive pool table diagrams.

Someone on here has to know Wei, and can get in touch with him to get some answers.

Wei responded to me in private, so I know he knows about it. Whether he has the time to get to it is another thing altogether. Real life gets in the way at times.

Bambu,
I recollect that sfleinen (Sean) works in IT security. It might be worthwhile for you to contact Sean.

Can someone either have him reply to the questions i posed in my original post or ask him and type his answers in here. Forget the ones about his security issues, more important are the ones regarding the cuetable.

Thanks

Aren't the security questions important?

Most certainly they are, but those are recent issues, whereas the questions about the app itself have been ignored for a few years.

So if I could get any feedback at all, I would forego the website issues for the time being, just to get some kind of clarity on the others :D

Beggers can't be choosy I guess.

I never did link directly to the diagrams I created, I always took a screen capture of the diagram with his great website and posted the image instead.

I used to link to it, but then I got errors on the computers that didn't have shockwave software, etc.
