$20,000 BIG money 'Down Under' - LINK FIXED

For anybody that is interested there is a MAJOR money match planned for 24th May in Sydney, Australia. Participants are Hoc Sung and Ben Nunan. Ben is a multiple Australian champion and Hoc is definitely no slouch. Each player is putting up $10,000 in this '2 man tournament'. Hoc is backing himself and from what I can gather Ben is backing the bulk of his side. Good to see that players can put their own money on the line in a match-up.

Format is a race to 31 in 8 Ball (one shot - ball in hand). I had to clarify because WEPF 2-shot is popular in Australia too.

Streaming is proposed for this match and it will likely be a free feed. The streaming is provided by cueball.tv who are Australia's AZ and TAR rolled into one. They also promote ANY upcoming events and do a fantastic job for all disciplines of cuesport..

bump

Bumping this in the hope it gets a response and not just a glance followed by a dismissal. Trust me the players will put on a VERY polished display. I know they are not from USA or Philippines but they are playing for big bucks and that should count for something.

If it will evoke a response I will state that both these guys could punish 70% of the so called pros out there now.

You got a bit more then a glance and a dismissal from me.. you got a glance, a click, then a dismissal.

The link takes you to a site that has nothing on it except a landing page to sign up. Any site that has no content except a sign up page, gets the dismissal from me.

Oh well....

Apologies to anybody 'landing' at a signup page. That was not my intent. I am a bit upset that 150+ viewers have had the same experience.
I did try and post an image but my lack of tech knowledge let me down.

Here is a link to the front page which does not require a signup.

The site administrators have only recently implemented a new membership plan and the link was made while I was in the site as a member.
I will edit the main post accordingly. Thanks for the heads up.

I will continue to try and upload another image.

While you edited the post to reflect the home page (which I had already did when I went there) the link you posted was apparently a link to some discussion of the event, which is in the forums at that site.

Which still leads to the same issue. The site makes you sign up to even view the forums. Almost all forums allow you to view the forums without signing up for anything, you just can't post to those forums, which is perfectly acceptable. One needs to be signed up to post.. all good there.

But that site won't even let you read the forums without signing up.

In this day and age, I'm just simply sick and tired of signing up for every little thing on the Internet. Therefore, it's going to take me to really want something, to get me to sign up.

Good luck to the event though... should be a good time anytime two players are playing for 10 big ones

fixed? - nearly

Thanks for the assistance with posting the image Sean. I have contacted the site administrators and asked that any content be made available to casual visitors...after all they are trying to drum up interest and not put people off viewing this event.

^ Agreed - Its a fair way out, and while I'd like to have a look, I'll likely forget in the meanwhile.

Also, maybe you could add some info about what kind of table they will be playing on. (Sorry if this is listed somewhere else, and I didn't see it). I probably wouldn't be interested watching them play on a 7 foot miniature snooker table with a small white ball and horse blanket cloth, or some Olio table with bucket pockets etc. Just an idea anyway.

Hope it goes well, and the boys put on a good show. Cheers.

I've played Ben in Adelaide. Great guy, great player.
I think this will be a great match. Both players are sportsmen , I know there will be no sharking or bad behaviour ,unlike the recent tar match.
Best of luck, should be a good match.
I'm biased I want Ben to win.

Table info.

The table is a 9' Brunswick Gold Crown V with tournament cut pockets and new Simonis cloth. The room they are playing in has too many tables too close together but they will close down the surrounding tables while the match is played.

Thanks for the assist DAVE and Neil. I will post again closer to the match day.

Half way through watching the match on Youtube now. (Missed the live feed).

Good match so far..... definitely not world quality, but good solid pool considering the money on the line / cameras etc etc.

Did anyone post the link up to this. It's interesting to watch the different styles of the players, since they have obviously grown up in a snooker background.

Potting is strong, but position is often a let down, as is the break shot.

Going for the underdog myself .... :-)

A good match overall.

A shame Hoc never really made the most of his opportunities. His break was superior, and Nunan showed little willingness to change his break to the conditions, for which a another player on another day would have punished him.

Nunan was always just in front and out of reach. Would have been good if the game got a bit closer and the pressure intensified. Hoc actually looked better to me under pressure, very solid potting and cue action. Certainly never got flustered by being behind.

For trivia buffs, there was a brief period of commentary by Budd, who I think won the VNEA 8 Ball open championship at his first try back in the day, playing with his snooker cue. I also think he came back years later and also won the Masters division.
