The top of the rail (not the cushion nose) is higher than the level-cue miscue limit, so you have to hit at least a little downward to avoid miscueing (and probably a little more downward than that to be comfortable).OneIron:SkiCop:

I disagree. You can shoot with an almost dead level cue if you have a good tip and keep the tip as close to the rail as possible, even brushing it. I've been doing it his way for longer than I care to admit.
Hitting off the rail with speed is the hardest thing - you have to jack up a little extra and avoid even the tiniest offcenter hit. If you have to spin the CB you might have to compensate for swerve rather than squirt (i.e., adjust your aim in the opposite direction).
