If you call someone names in an aiming thread you get banned, but in a chalk thread, it's perfectly acceptable. Sometimes I'm reminded of "bar-rules" when I contemplate what I can and can't say in threads.

Why is there such a difference? It's almost like it's "ok" here, but in that other thread there's a no name-calling rule.

Can I call people ass holes in this thread? Or is this, "Jimmy's Pub and Pool Palace" where I can't? Seriously, I'm confused. Can I call someone an ass from the kitchen, but not mid-table? What is the rule?

Could've been some kind of BCA thing going on, whereas they had been warned after a second consecutive foul. May be a local forum by-law, too. It's hard to tell nowadays, as each forum association has its own rules. :p

If you wouldn't say it to your mom, then don't say it here and you'll be fine.

I wouldn't spend to much time worring about what other people can say or do either. Not much point in that. ;)

I think it should go without saying that there is a “no name-calling” rule; now where and when that’s enforced is contingent upon severity of infraction/available time ratio.

The rule is “do unto others”; I want you to seriously consider what you are asking, you are asking a question of conduct. Stop calling people names here, do you do that in your normal life? Really? I mean really?

You know those tests the teachers were supposed to give as a child that said right across the top, "Read ALL instructions before answering". I am 100% sure you were the one that found out 4 hours later the last question said, "only answer questions 1-4".

Seriously ... learn to READ.

How in the Hell to do you type and breathe at the same time? It must be a challenge.

PS: I did not use CTE therefore my response is perfectly acceptable.

Thanks to those who figured out what I said and their replies. I don't worry about it too much for my own sake, mostly for other people who just ask a question and then are directly attacked for something totally unrelated/made up.

I suppose the meaning here is; your post count is more important than your post, or more simply; quantity > quality.

I now understand how the rules work. Sorta. Do I have to call every collision with the 8? Is it last-pocket?

This would be right after a cigarette and stair climbing (which raises my BP).

Studying Zen has given me a fairly even BP/heart rate despite what might go on around me.

Jimmy's pub and Pool Palace caught my eye.

Where I play there is a bar in the front and a "pool hall" in the back.The 2 rooms are not seperated by a door or wall completely.Up front you have 7' Valleys and in the back 9' GCs.The place is a constant clash of cultures,for lack of a better word.Up front you have regular bar patrons some of who do not play pool at all,most of the bar customers only go to the area with the big tables to use the restroom.The big table players,some of who wouldn't touch a plugged CB only go up front to order food or softdrinks.Sometimes the 2 sides clash a bit but mostly it is a peacefull coexistence.I like to think of it as the best of both worlds but you could say it is the worst of both worlds.
