Try worsted wool, not felt. Simonis, Championship, Milliken are all fine makers. I'm too scared to try any make other than Simonis 860 though.

Upgrading my felt soon and wondered what people's favorite felt is.

I like simonis speed and always thought that is what I would get if I had a pool table. Now I do and since my local bar I played for put in Muellers Basalt I love it. It's every bit as fast as simonis if not faster but it has more nap or a thicker hand. Simonis after it wears seams to speed up but to me it feels more and more like nothing is there.

Also curious to what you all think is the fastest felt out there.

Fastest would be carom cloth but you wouldn't want that. The 860 is a very good product and as long as you take good care of it and keep it clean it should be fast enough. (considering it is installed correctly)

I know a few people that like using the 760.

Gorina Bassalt is decent, but skids a bit. Pro form and championship tournament edition is also a good substitute.
