Different Aiming Systems- One common goal

I also would like to echo the sentiment that it's all about getting on the proper aiming line and to that end all methods have the same goal. It's been said in the past that anyone who spends time figuring out these methods loves pool. So with that in mind why are they not treated with more respect simply for the fact that they are doing this because of their passion for pool at least?

Joey:
The naysayers are still trying to stifle conversation and create acrimony about this aiming system and others even though they have already lost the battle.
Why the constant efforts to split AzB posters into opposing teams engaged in a battle? Do you need a more acrimonious atmosphere to highlight your own self righteousness?

I guess I'm just a counter-weight to your arrogant bigotry.

I'm not the most polite poster here, but I usually stick to topical substance. Your posts are too often just extremist-baiting nonsense about "sides", "battles", "winning" and "losing". If you really wanted less acrimony on this topic you'd stop your flame-fanning pious posturing and give more moderate discussion a better chance - contrary to the stark black-and-white us-vs-them picture you push, there is some give and take here.

To be fair (or perhaps "more accurate") there has been "some" give and take lately, from you....as opposed to your stances prior to the last time you were on "vacation".

And I applaud you for that. It is noticeable. And welcome. There has been some actual discussion. It still seems to end the same way, but at least this is progress.

If you wanted less acrimony on this topic, you'd just become a student of and advocate of aiming systems like CTE/Pro1 and discuss how they are improving the world of pool rather than your constant need to be an authority on something that you are obviously not currently competent with.

If you wanted less acrimony on this topic, you'd apologize for all of your past, arrogant posts concerning the system, your repugnant remarks about the users of this aiming system & the creator(s) of the system(s) and eliminate the impudence from your future posts.

Your toned-down method of expression concerning all of your posts is noted but is nothing more than an end result of the muzzling that you have received from Mr. Wilson and the management of AZ Billiards. (and that's a good thing for the forum and you). You manage to squeak by under the radar as far as the forum rules are concerned and that is a good thing too. I still on occasion, read your posts and hope that you stay around a long time.

To be quite honest, CTE/Pro1 is nothing more than a way for some people to get into the right position to see the shot from the correct perspective. If people can get to the perfect sight picture without an aiming system, more power to them. I know top players who don't know how they aim.

Today's "modern" aiming systems are becoming much more than "the cue ball needs to hit the object ball here" and incorporates not only the physical positioning of our body, including our eyes but the most that they can do is to get us to the perfect sight picture. After that, we will still have to depend upon our ability and experience to deliver a straight stroke and take all of the other factors into consideration.

Today's modern aiming systems will not replace hitting lots of balls but they will help many people to shorten their learning curve on getting to the perfect sight picture.

I applaud all of the pioneers of today's aiming systems. The ability to put into words what we do mentally, visually and physically is a not so easy task.

pj is right on target. The following incendiary thread is ample proof of the propaganda campaign that the yeahsayers are engaging in:

The "holy wars" ended hundreds of years ago but it looks like some people here didn't get the memo.

So, concerning the bolded, either drink the Kool Aid and like it (this is key, with the "and become advocate of" piece), or don't participate at all?

Since *when* is an open discussion group hinged upon the participants having to be advocates of the topic/technique/method being discussed?

Joey, your sales and marketing drivel never cease to amaze me. On one hand, you try to position yourself as some sort of "high road" authority with an intent on calling out and quelling those you see as "troublemakers." Yet on the other hand, you yourself are guilty of the very same one-sided fence-erecting, division-creating nonsense that serves to stoke the very fires that your other hand positions itself for high-road quelling of.

Go ahead, hit me with your blue ink "high road authoritarian" nonsense. I can't believe you can't see how transparent you are.

I wonder if their IP addresses are the same??

Sean,
I guess you just don't get it. It's ok that you don't get it. You have my permission to put me on ignore.

New Sub-forum for naysayers.

I wouldn't doubt that at all.

For some time now, I have been wondering if a new sub forum should be established for the naysayers so that they could waste their time with each other rather than stalking others. They could also play their tag-team game on each other rather than on those who have no time to deal with their silliness.

Yes, I *do* get it. This is yet another sales and marketing technique -- self-creation of a sales pipeline. Your one hand is creating the business that your other hand accepts. So you create strife fodder for your other "high road authoritarian" side to take.

I do get it.

-Sean <-- doesn't consider Joey to be Ignore fodder just yet; just that "day job" part of him that intrudes into his otherwise mature pool life.

You should put that on the front burner.

Hm,

if i substract the unbelievabe great posting (#28) from Dave Segal (LOL! and thx Dave :p ), the last 13 postings or so have not really much to do with the topic, do they ? :-)

No, because at times, you actually do offer value to the forums, if one can wade through the goose-stepping marketing droid sales-speak.

I think I'm going to take a different tact. And when I think about this new tact, it brings a smile to my face, because I hope to make others laugh in the process as well.

-Sean <-- believes laughter is the best medicine

Very well stated my friend.

All good aiming systems have to take us to the same point. How we get there is our personal system.

I also agree with you that an aiming system is only a portion of our game. Process, Stroke & Alignment are long before Aiming.

Responses from you are always like getting a candy Randy :-)

thx and stay healthy my friend,

Sorry for my part in that, Ingo. In my haste to call out the fire starters, I myself fanned the flames. Won't do it again -- will take a different tact next time. ;)
