Gene Albrecht

Do they have a Calcutta? If so, I bid $10 on the old guy, just to be a part of the party..................

Shhhhhhh.

No calcuttas in Texas. You wouldn't have got him anyway cause I would bid him up.

Ray
(I mean will)

For a little levity

I met Gene in person as I was leaving Tunica. I also met Lee Brett at the tournament, and as we were waiting for our ride to the airport had a nice conversation with Cliff Joyner in the lobby of the hotel where we stayed. They are all nice guys. My experience with pro players has always been positive. Stevie Moore was funny when I asked him a question about his cue at last year's Derby. As he was walking away he looked back and said, "That will be $200." I understood where he was coming from. Its a rough life out there. You are so right though Joey A. I think we lose a lot of quality posters on AZ because of a few jerks.
Okay, which one of you let Cliff hold a hundred?:D

Tom Jennings?

That's it!....Tom Jennings...man, that was bugging me for hours.
He was playing a set of 9-ball for $5,000 at the Rack in Detroit
in '78 or '79....the 7-ball was hanging and he had to draw up-table,
as he hit the cue-ball, the 7-ball fell and the cue-ball hit the back of
the pocket....everybody was stunned for an instant...( as in, wth happened?)
They reracked, which I thought was wrong, Tom should have got the
shot over again.

Firstly, I'd hate to talk to people on the phone to get a sale. I don't understand how people can.

Secondly, where the hell do you lot drink?

What a place...

Phone calls are very pragmatic.

I'm surprised you, of all, don't understand such a thing.

Thaiger aint paid his phone bill in months....
....he's down to using two tin cans and a string.

Interesting that people spend so much time and energy diverting threads off topic. Must be an exciting life.

I'm heading to Austin in a few minutes and will be checking up on Geno and his shoulder. Seems like Geno has health gremlins that travel with him. lol.

And now imagine to spend maybe 10-15 % online, and the other time at the pool-table .......O_o champs everywhere :p (maybe )

Yes, you're right, most players don't. Maybe it's because of all the JoeyA threads. Threads which neither start nor go nowhere. Like the Efren one pocket thread, a very good example. Or any nonsensical thread for that matter.

I'll add a little something from my end. At the pool hall the other day I heard some people talking about announcers on streams. Who they did and didn't like.

Well the name that everyone said they did not like, JoeyA I mentioned that I also do not like his style of commentating, and their reasons for not liking him was pretty much spot on with all the others. Take Galveston when JJ gets in the booth. Jeremy says where the cueball will go and why, Joey constantly contradicts, now that's fine if you are ever right, but he wasn't he was batting 0.04 on being right for calls of what is going to happen on the table, it was the MO for all the other matches I have heard him do no matter where they are.

Also we had a good laugh about how Joey says "before they leave the booth were going to get (insert players name here) to give us a playing secret" Like any auditory tip without a telestrator or being in person would be worth anything. The tips end up being when jumping a ball, keep your stick up.

JoeyA; Most of the top players don't want to give our forum the time of day and unfortunately said:

Damn Tommy.... Tell us how you really feel! Lol. I'm not hating, I love people keeping it real.

Doesn't matter which sport, there is almost always two distinctly different announcers in the booth. Theres always an informed guy that is likeable and then a hands on, know it all guy, ala John Madden, etc.... Like his style or not, Joey does bring a lot out of the others. He asks good questions and isn't afraid to throw his thoughts out there. It comes off to me that he does so intentionally to provoke the great players sitting in with him to join in and voice their opinions.... If someone didn't prod them and keep the dialogue moving there would be a lot of dead air.

Wow, tough crowd!

Ahhhh. The good old Galveston World Classic.

You're actually spot on with your assessment however Joey A except the "no one likes him" comment, that's just a hateful comment that you normally only see in High School, but Joey has continued to improve, probably every day since then while you continue to post the same inciting type posts.

Focus on the post, threads, topics, friends etc. that you "like" and have good things to say about and leave the rest alone. You might actually enjoy it.

Great Post Saw. I'm sending you some green. Rep that is, not cash. :D

Very insightful,

Funny you say that Ray.

When a particular person was making an allegation against you about a bathroom door, I jumped on your side, and you didn't say, hey don't say bad things about the guy accusing me. Now it's a different story huh.
