On or around this date in 93, the passing of Willie Mosconi occurred. The dates on internet sites vary. What is the actual date ?

You know, I just noticed that myself recently. It used to be published that he passed on September 12th. I remember that date vividly for personal reasons.

Then I noticed the date changed to September 17th on Wikipedia recently. It used to say September 12th, which is the date I remembered. I did a little research just this past week on this very topic. It, indeed, was September 16th, I believe, based on newspaper reports:

Willie Mosconi, acknowledged as one of the greatest pocket billiards players in the history of the sport, died on Thursday afternoon at his home in Haddon Heights, N.J. He was 80.

The above article was written on September 18, 1993, which was a Saturday. It states Willie passed on the previous Thursday, which would have been September 16.

I believe you are correct. A quick look at a 1993 September calendar shows that Thursday was the 16th and the notice appeared Saturday the 18th.
