My worst pool night!

I play in a weekly local 9 ball league and its set up to pay all the money back to the players and there are some really good players in the league. I look forward to playing my match each week because I know I'm always going to have a tough race to 9 against a good player.

I drove my GMC pick up to the match last night and while I was inside someone stole my truck! It was an older 1988 model that my wife and I had invested a good bit of money in fixing it up. It belonged to her father who passed away a few years ago and it meant a lot to both of us. You can just imagine how I felt when I came out to get in my truck to go home and realized it was gone! I've been lucky and I've never had a vehicle stolen before, but its a sick feeling when it happens to you. What a way to end my night out playing pool!

Some of the posts suggested that I add a picture of my truck that was stolen. This is the only one I could find that showed the whole truck and it was taken before I had a chance to do anything to the truck. It has better looking tires and wheels and the primer doesn't show now. It's not the fanciest truck around, but it was paid for and it was in good mechanical condition. If you should see it please let me know. I also added a picture of the license plate, but it probably won't be on the truck now (you never know). Thanks in advance for any help.......

James,

Why would someone target your truck? It's way too old to be moved to Mexico. What kind of market would there be? My guess is, it's someone you know or knows you. Was there anything of value left visible inside the truck? Regardless, best of luck getting the truck back. One of my friends left Vegas and returned to Rochester after his pristine 25 year old Cadillac was stolen from in front of his condo. Wound up in Mexico. There is so much car theft in Vegas, Metro doesn't even bother investigating anymore. Just fill out the paperwork and call your insurance company. Again, good luck.

and here I thought you'd say you dogged an easy ball or something. That actually sucks. You're in South Carolina? Maybe it's worth posting something like "keep an eye out for 1988 [color] GMC pickup", you might get lucky.

Sorry to hear about your lost. I had my van stolen in Atlanta, Ga. With everything in it all of my valuable Items. So I know how you feel. I had the big anti theft lock on the steering wheel and that did not help stop it from being stolen. An old Astro van. I thought no one would dare steal it. Good luck on locating it. Put an ad on Craig's List in autos for sale. It is free. Offer a small reward for it too!
Many Regards,
Lock N load.

Anytime I have a bad night shooting I can say to myself "at least my truck didn't get stolen"... that really sucks. Hope they find whoever did it... low lives!

Thanks everyone, it makes me feel good to know a lot of my AZ friends care.

James.... where are you at in SC ??? I am just across the Savannah River in Georgia, about a 5 minute ride to get from GA to SC of course depending on where in SC you are at.

Maybe post a pic of the truck and I'll be glad to keep an eye out. I also work at a Chevy dealership and been in the auto field for over 30 years so you never know what me or someone else might see.

Sorry to hear about the theft, it takes a scum bag to steal. I hope you have some luck in finding it.

i just moved s.c. where were you at?an hope you get ur truck back

North Park Grill in North Charleston, SC. It's a nice place and a good place to play on bar boxes. The crowd is usually good except once in a while a couple of undesirables will drop in and they are usually asked to leave.

The only valuable I remember is my radio and I always remove the face plate and hide it in the truck, but I forgot to take it off yesterday. I guess crooks are wise to hiding the face plate on radios anyway because they must know they would be inside the vehicle somewhere.

Spent the last eight working years before my retirement representing Rockford Fosgate, Jensen Car Audio, Escort Radar Detectors among others. Some of the companies went to the trouble of engineering face plates that "flipped" from blank to functional just to "fool" the thieves. Didn't work for long. Removable face plates like yours failed as well for the reason you found. If a thief wants something in your car, they'll get it. Hopefully without destroying the rest of your car. Again good luck.

Maybe wifey has a "pimp my ride" style surprise for you. I hope the truck's not really gone man...I've had 2 motorcycles stolen from me so I know your pain.

Thieves are the absolute worst. Liars and thieves should burn in hell.

That is horrible!! I'm so sorry. I will pray for you and your wife to find something new. And even though it's not going to be her dad's old truck. It can help you two make new memories.
I'm so sorry. :(
