Just found this supplier on the net.

Seems like they might be a decent source of wood without the associated blah-blah that some other suppliers seem to deliver on their websites.

I'd personally be really hesitant to deal with anyone who would put my "business" on the street if I didn't meet their expectations as a buyer. Perhaps this company is more discreet about who they do business with.

ok cool - was just putting it out there. I guess it's like they say, it ain't braggin if you can do it. Maybe it's worth it to put up with blah-blah if you get good wood.

I havent bought from them in about 10 years but he used to sell good stuff. Each shaft square was marked with a pencil on one end, he would hand count growth rings and the price was based on them. I believe when I started buying from him the highest grade was $6 per. Man that was a long time ago. I am getting old.

The best ( >20 GPI) is more than $30 per stick now with ship. They are now tapered cones. Just got a few dozen. Roland is among the best I know of to deal with. His grading is almost saintly. :) Unfortunately (#1) maple shaftwood has been in rather limited in the recent past due to his primary focus on his bat business. I highly recommend him.

I recently bought some of the cones he had on special. For the money, I think they are pretty good. Being in such a dry climate here is a pretty rough environmental test on bare wood, but so far, they are hanging straight.

I haven't tried any of his high GPI stock.

My 2 cents,

I purchased a variety of shaft grades from them several years ago and they were just fine.

Maybe I should give them another shot. At the time I was buying shaft wood from everyone. Just trying to find a supplier.

I know everyone has their views. With me I’m looking for more then just GPI.

Certainly. I wouldn't pay that number if they weren't the cream of the crop in other respects as well. I've visted several shaftwood suppliers in the Michigan-Wisconsin area including Roland. He was one source I never wanted to mention here as it would just make it more difficult to get his grade 1's. I can think of maybe 5-6 shaftwood sellers that are honorable men and have my respect.
