consistency issues, anyone else experience this?

Wow...talk about a "lack of knowledge". LMAO Nobody on this planet (including Shane) has an "almost 99.9% potting skill". NOBODY...and nobody ever will. As far as numbers of possible shots...you're a bit off. Einstein figured that there are some 6,000,000 shots and angles on a 9' table.

It is called lack of knowledge of pool, once you reach a supremacy level your potting skill will be almost 99.9%.

I posted earlier on other thread, that a pool player must be able to pocket any ball on the table with all kind of speed, english, and stun especially longer shots. Possibilities are about 4000 shots, .

What works for me

is to pretend that I am going to lose my left nut if I lose. When you think about it hard, it makes you try harder ....

Scott, i am not kidding here, you have to shoot and make every possible ball you are presented with, you may notice my numbers are way off than Einstein because i do not consider impossible or near impossible shots. Also excluding easy near pocket shots.
Do the math, cue ball has 8 english tip contacts points, and center hit, three speeds, soft, med, and fast, distance assuming table is split into 6" square , and you either shoot stun or rolling cue ball, and say 0 to 60 or 70 degree angle shots (20 degree each shot), and most importantly bridge hand position vary every shot (say 2" every shot) you will find out that there will be about 4000 possibilities.
The point is, when you are confronted with a standard not very hard shot you should be able to make it with all kind of english, speed, stun, or roll. Once you get there the positioning possibilities triple and chances to run racks increases. So when you have that knowledge your confidence level is boosted 10 folds, and that is the most mental factor, not reading books, not yoga, or prying. One other factor is ability to focus and find aim, that comes with practice, especially an hour after you have good sleep, your focus is the best, that way because you will be able to really see that magic sweet aim, you will be able to train your brain to find focus when you are a bit tired.
