WRISTS - The "hidden power catalyst" of a great stroke or "just along for the ride"?

CJ, I sent you a message on your FB page requesting the free DVD. This is a most gererous offer, and lays to rest any misgivings I may have had about your real intentions. Can't wait to review it here.

CJ (to Scott Lee):
You are just worried that everyone is going to "REAL EYES" that the stuff you've been "showcasing" is nothing but a sentence to mediocrity and "pool purgatory".
Scott's a well known and highly respected pool instructor, CJ, with literally hundreds of satisfied customers across the country. Many more pool players read here than post here, and I'll bet many of them know that fact, lots of them from personal experience with him.

I'm sure all of those, and many more who don't know Scott but know his reputation, realize (without the cute spelling) that you're way off base and simply being spiteful because he doesn't get in line with a few here to kiss your championship ring and take everything you say as gospel. He's very well qualified to know whether or not somebody is making sense, another thing many who read here know about him. (And, by the way, Scott's probably the most well known of the Cue-Tech instructors - I thought you said you knew and respected Randy G and his pool school.)

You seem to want to recreate a public image for yourself. Maybe you should take a breath and think about the fact that you're doing that right here and now. A little more humility and a lot less hype might go a long way toward making it a positive one.

Who on here is kissing his championship ring and taking everything he says as gospel?
As well please point out his arrogance and hype.

Kewl, with that new found skill, I'll undoubtedly get to watch you play and kick butt at the Derby City Classic in January! Yeah, it's a crying shame there are people who don't simply buy into the program and call bullshit when bullshit is evident. Dude, honestly, I feel sorry for you, I really do.

Well, CJ has left the building! :outtahere: Congrats to all the off topic posters that saved us from a fate worse than going two and out. Hopefully your egos are still intact and your reputation on AZB as a master know it all has been elevated.

After being poked, :poke: pushed, ridiculed and laughed at, another pro got fed up with trying to pass around a little info from his experiences. That's alright. We have the AZB clique to steer us in the right direction to mediocrity. After all, hit a million or two shots and you'll be a pro someday. It just takes perfect practice and discipline. It's guaranteed, don't worry! There are no techniques or "secrets". That's all crap! Learn to be a robot.

Thanks, CJ for everything. Especially all the cool pictures you googled that turned us into simpletons and "macadamia claspers". We aren't able to see through your "bu!!$h!t", so come back and post after you win the CUP!

Best,
Mike

BTW, I learned more $h!t from CJ in the past few weeks than I have in the past few years listening to the AZB Masters.

If you have to ask those questions, there is no answer Patrick or anyone else could provide that would enlighten you.

That doesn't surprise me Mike, not with your apparent reading skills. CJ didn't get run off like you want to believe, he even said so. He has other work to do right now and is taking a break. CJ has attempted to teach TWO things on here. If that is all you learned on here in two years, I guess that puts you in the same category as English. Enjoy the company. But, don't worry, I doubt you will see many more posts in the future from the "AZB Masters", since your little click made it clear that we are wasting our time on here anyways. Only people that want to learn actually learn anything. That leaves a surprising number of you left out in la-la land. Enjoy your new masters- CJ and English. You guys will be at APA level 1 in no time!

Not really...but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last week.

LMAO! Why try to confuse his argument with facts Neil?

I still wonder who this Efrem is who you speak about??? I understand you are an engineer but I would really like to understand your insistence on arguing with a past champion about pool on a pool forum...

There are applied sciences and theoretical... Somehow I think you would be the one telling us the bumblebee can't fly..........

"Chipping/clicking/breaking your wrist "

Where on earth did you get these descriptions? Certainly not from me.

Sorry brother, but there is techiques and systems to playing pool. I'm not some freak that has some "superhuman" abilities. LoL ... I'm just like anyone else, I just learned how to play pool like others learn how to play golf, basketball, tennis, paint, sculpture, play music etc.

There's always a system to get better, but please don't use words like Chipping/clicking/breaking in describing your stoke. That would be harmful VERY HARMFUL indeed. :groucho:

Well, folks I gotta go ....the MOSCONI CUP obligations need my full attention. Have a Happy Halloween EVERYONE, even my favorite fans pj, neil and "short scott" lee.....WE LOVE YOU GUYS, thanks for playing along on "BATTLE ON AZ BILLIARDS" T.O.S.S. vs CJ WILEY :groucho:

Aloha

I am sorry, but could you NOT ignore my whole post and NOT only bring out the three words I used intentionally to show how confusing your descriptions can be?

Thank you.

check out the grip & stroke of snooker great ronnie osullivan. poetry in motion & a perfect combination of the different techniques described in the thread. the tension in the grip is determined by the shot at hand. On a power shot you naturally have to grip the cue at impact or it will fly out of your hand. What helps is hit some shots of varying speeds with 1 stroke & pretend you're playing speed pool & you'll feel your natural stroke. Kinda like outrunning you're thinking brain getting in your way. Also if your set up & alignment is sloppy no magic grip will fix the problem.

The teachers I would go to would be Buddy Hall, Hunter Lombardo, or Max Eberle

I tend to agree with you but let's not go overboard. Think about it for a second and look at other sports where they actually do have coaches. How many tennis coaches were the best players in their day? Not that many. How many football coaches were great players? Not that many.

There is something to be said for having the ability to teach rather than do. Remember Hal Nix? He wasn't a great pool player but if you ask Nick Varner, he would tell you that Hal helped his game (at least I think he would).

I do agree that some on here seem to be jealous of CJ. I watched CJ play when he was playing both on TV and in person at the Sands in Reno. He was an awesome player and I appreciate his willingness to share his secrets and don't understand those that are complaining. I don't think they realize how petty and ugly they appear to some of us (probably more than I could guess). They should apologize to CJ and hope the rest of us forget about their classless behavior!!

Someone said Tiger Wood's golf coach, Hank Haney wasn't a good player, but I played with him and he shot under par, and he told me he actually beat Tiger one time (shooting 3 under par), but Tiger averaged 5 under, so this was a "one time" occurance. Still, no one can say Hank can't play golf, it's simply not the case at all.

Pool's not a difficult game and I always wondered why people that have the knowledge can't play that well. Maybe it's their nerves or some deep psychological thing, I never really figured it out. The teachers I would go to if I had problems with my game would be Buddy Hall, Hunter Lombardo, Danny D. or Max Eberle. They, in the inner circle of Teaching Professionals are the best in my opinion. Wade Crane influenced me as well. R.I.P. Billy Johnson (Wade Crane). Wade knew a LOT about the game and had learned from so many of the legendary champions, and was just a class act.

I was around Hal Mix quite a bit 20 years ago as well. He showed my the key to setting up to use english without it effecting my aim. Like I said earlier, a championship game is a "blend" of the finest elements you pick up, both consciously and subconsciously. I'm grateful it all came together.

I did some training (to tune up my body angles) with Buddy last year and Hunter this year. Max and I have done a great deal of talking about the "Mental Side" of pocket billiards and he has some key insights in this area as well. 'The Game is the Teacher'

I never want to change my upper body angles, so I do it with my foot.

That's very true. I played against Ronnie a few times in the last Mosconi Cup I was in and Steve Davis as well. I had already learned from a snooker coach up on Canada and really paid attention to Ronnie and Steve's stance and how square they were to the ball.

My stance and set up is not a full snooker stance, but I MAKE SURE my left foot is parallel to the "Line of the Shot". I use my left foot alter my aim, instead of doing it on the table. I never want to change my upper body angles, so I do it with my foot. That's another advanced technique that I better talk about an another time.

'm a firm believer in correct feet position and that it's the foundation for the upper body angles, and the left foot MUST be on the "Line of the Shot" or it's tough to be precise day in, day out. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Yes, I got your message on Face Book and it will be sent out (with the other 19 DVD's) in the next 36 hours.

Thanks, my inbox on here was filled up and I knew it wouldn't hold 20 more messages, that's why I directed everyone to the Face Book page.

Why the left foot? Most snooker players have their RIGHT foot(if right handed), the chin, and bridge hand all on the same line.

I am not being sarcastic or arrogant or anything, just want to hear your thoughts more on stance. I think it's the most important thing to perfect before being able to reach higher skill level.

I am trying to use the snooker stance, or something close to it.
You can see me shooting some balls in this video:

I've played pool seriously (15h/w) for a year and a few months now, I think my game is very much fixable/changable yet.

Thanks.

- Margus.

Hey there Margus, I appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'm not putting you off, but I"m just completely worn out. I've been up all night working on the new USA Mosconi Cup Page and talking to some of the players.

I have a BLOG that has a lot of articles and thoughts I've written in the last 2 months I can share with you and I'll be glad to help you with your stance later. Check this out first, there may be one on the stance, or maybe that's on my face book page. Anyway, here's the link http://forums.azbilliards.com/blog.php?u=64222

and the Mosconi Cup Page I just finished is AT THIS LINK ...THANKS TTYS

Autist:
i am pretty much sure that CJ just mistyped in his answer to you-or that he typed too fast or whatever. I think if he reread what he wrote there, he will overthink it and type a more precise and correct answer.

I am also sure, that he wanted to write similar, like you said about the snooker stance (foot positions).
