Soren Sogaard cushions vs top rails

I have a strange question: I have a 12 yr old Sogaard that plays wonderfully, thanks to Steve Anderson whom I bought this table from and Mark Gregory, the mechanic. However, the attachment of the cushions to the rail is set just below the top rail so when shooting from top rail the cue is sliding across wood and not the cushion. The mechanic thought this a little odd when he was setting the table up. I have been playing on this table for 10 months now and it is beginning to bug me a little. Anybody have this problem with Sorens. Is there a solution?

Dean; Sounds like someone replaced the cushions on the table incorrectly, if you want the straight dope on what is what, call, Jay Spielberg (603) 765-6160, BEST mechanic in the country, period! Good luck.

Most tables made in Europe are designed like this. A manufacture told me that the top players wanted it this way.

I am certainly not a Sogaard expert, but, my two cents, you should be able to adjust the height of the feather strip. Other European tables also have the cushion mounted lower than the rail, but the feather strip keeps the cloth level with the rail.

You could try posting on the table mechanic forum.

I heard the same thing that the pros asked for this. Its like this on all SG tables I've played on for several years. Verhorven is the same way I hear. Gotta learn how to play on these and not ding your shaft. Gabrial is the only common table where the rubber meets the road so to speak.

A taller feather strip, suggested, should help reduce dings and if you went this way might as well have it angled at the top so it comes in flush with the rubber. The cloth would wear a little better.

Thanks for your feedback, what is a feather strip??
A thin piece of wook strip that holds the cushion cloth in place at the top. Its hammered in and the cloth is wrapped over it then stapled on the bottom of the rail.
