Beautiful!!!! I enjoy looking at things people do when they are good at their job and when they enjoy what they do, the quality is always much better when they actually like what they do and are not doing it just for the money.

Anyone...anywhere, looking to have table restoration work done like this, needs to send your rails straight to Mark. I know Mark personally, and this table is not a one off table, this is what Mark does to all the tables he works on if the owners want him to, besides rebuilding the sub-rails as well.

There are others around the country that can restore the finish of rails to perfection like Mark does, but I guarantee you, not one of them can make the table look and PLAY as well as Mark can. Being able to refinish a set of rails to perfection has nothing to do with making the rails PLAY to perfection as well, it's TWO separate things, and Mark does them both...to "Perfection"

The difference between Mark and myself, is that I COULD do the exact same thing Mark is doing, but I don't have the passion, nor the shop to take on the projects he does, but mostly...I just don't have the desire to dedicate my time to do this kind of work anymore. But, I feel relieved that I know Mark does, because when I get the requests to work on tables like these...I'm just going to refer the work to Mark, because I know I won't be let down in the long run. Mark and I do the same kind of work when it comes to making tables play right, so that's where I draw the line in the sand....he can have ALL the refinish jobs in the world...I"m out of that line of work....LOL I have my 24' cargo/shop trailer now, so I'm in the process of setting it up as a mobile workshop so I can work on Diamond tables all across the country, changing them into the new Blue label design as requested, and tightening up the pockets to ProCut...THAT'S what I have a passion for doing, and more than likely will be doing until I'm to old to renew my drivers license anymore...LOL

Mark, you're the BEST, and like a younger brother to me!

The red did pop on the veneer work. I'm going to try out the grain filler. That does look good. I almost stopped by on the way back from Florida. Wish I would have now.

Try another pic so people don't think this was and old pic... not sure how the lighting is with the garage door open....I like the light in the kitchen better I think.LMAOIMG_1008.jpg

The bottom aluminum corners are the same size on 8-9 and 10 foot tables....the pedestals and the flat aluminum on the front and back are a different size on 8-9 and 10s.

Thank you Glen for the kind words....I'm glade you finally got a chance to come to my shop last week and see first hand the work I do on rails...not that you didn't already know.
You have so much knowledge of pool tables...always fun to talk with you about tables. I can't wait to see the shop you put together in the trailer you just got.
Hope to see ya in the next few weeks here at my house again....or should I say my pool table warehouse. Lmao.
Just buffed the centennial rails I was working on when you were here...look good.
I'll put pics up when I do the install of the table.
Thanks buddy....your smaller brother....lmao

THIS IS SO PERSONNAL

WHEN YOUR SETUP IS FINALLY COMPLETE , YOU'RE GOING TO WANT IT ALL TO YOURSELF
IF THERE'S SO MUCH AS A WHISPER IN THE SAME ROOM IT WOULD BE UPSETTING

I WOULD'NT BE SURPRISED IF YOU BUILT AN UNDERGROUND BUNKER TO HOUSE YOUR NEW VINTAGE MASTERPIECE
THAT BEAUTIFUL CRISP, CLEAN, VELVET LIKE CLOTH and THAT GREAT COOL SLATE BENEATH IT

OH YES, NO ONE DARE TOUCH IT

MAYBE A COUPLE OF PITBULLS AT THE GATEWAY

I wouldn't mind being the owner of the table either....maybe the owner will play me double or nothing for the table. Lmao

Great job! Nice looking finish on your rails. My Centennial will be recovered shortly. I've always gone with Simonis Green 860 but after seeing a couple of your Centennials done in Tournament Blue I'm tempted to go that way.

Do you use Simonis 860 or Simonis 860R?

I like the 860HR better....your avatar.....one pocket pro...maybe you should send the rails for a complete make over on the pockets.
How do the rails play?

The rails play well. I had the rubber replaced and the rails refinished 10 years ago. The finish has held up pretty well but I wish it had been a bit tougher. I am having a local cuemaker work on the foot rail right now. If it doesn't get fixed to my satisfaction I will contact you re: the possibility of shipping all of the rails to you. Although the cushion nose height seems right and balls bank well I've never been real happy with the pocket openings and I may need to talk to you about correcting that as well.

Mike
The sub-rails need calibrated to the cushion you want to put on the table.
The tables had a different profile back when the table was made....today's cushions will work on the rails....but will not play the way good players demand. The sub-rails need to be replaced and the pocket opening needs to corrected to accept the balls properly.
I also like to change the bolt system for the rails...I use the same inserts that Dimond use on their tables.
You can really tell the difference in the play of the rails.
Let me know if you need work done on the rails.
Thank you
Mark Gregory.

Mark is 100% right, todays cushions are not a direct fit on the older Brunswick's, not if you want the table to play at its best. The sub-rails do need to be re-calibrated to play on the same level as the Diamond's today play. Ask Mark about his GC5, he had to do the samething to the rails on it as well to get it to play at it's best;)
