Quality, yet affordable, table brush or mini-vac?

I'm sure it's been covered ad nauseum on here, but I'd appreciate any fresh suggestions.

Christmas is coming up and my best friend is putting together an old Brunswick Sport King for his garage. He's re-using some old, cheap cloth for now, with plans to upgrade to Simonis 860 Tournament Blue next year.

I can't drop a bunch of coin, as this holiday is kinda tight for me. But, I know he needs something to keep the table clean.

Any suggestions for a quality, yet affordable table brush or mini-vac?

His wife is buying him a table cover, so that should help, btw.

I'd like to keep this under $50.

P.S. Any bonus suggestions for products to keep the table clean?

We use a mini shop vac-1 horse power with a handle on the top- and a brush attatchment to clean the tables. It works great for the tables, and he can also use it for other things. It's in your price range, and it'll work great, but be forewarned, with the abrasive chalk dust, it won't last forever. I actually blew up my latest one this morning. Not really sure how many that is to date, but I'll get another. Actually, with only one table, it might last forever.

It's an oversize 8-footer.

What mini-vac have you been using, David? And yes, this would only be for 1 table. Completely home use.

A table cover will help keep it clean when not in use. I can supply those. As far as occasional cleaning, I use a shop vac with a wide narrow end and lightly run it across the felt. I have Simonis 860 on my 8' table. You just don't want to pull the felt upwards.

We use the little black and red 1 gallon mini 'hang up' shop vac with the handle on the top. You can carry it around and use a wide brush attachment (that can be a little hard to find, I got mine from a Kirby dealer) to do the table bed and under the rails. I disassembled mine today as it quit on me yesterday. No luck-dead as fried chicken. They're like $30 at Wal Mart, though, and work great for the table and other things around the house. I think the abrasiveness of the chalk dust eventually wears it out. We have 20 tables, so you'll be fine doing just one with his.

That's the same one I use. More than enough suction, it does a great job. I paid about the same ($30) at Lowes or Home Depot.
