Your opponent gets a spot shot, which ball do you spot?

Which ball is most difficult to pocket on a spot shot? The 8-ball? The 2-ball on blue cloth? The 6-ball on green cloth? Suppose your opponent needs one, which ball will you spot up?

If you know how to make the spot shot the ball don't matter.

Remember though friend, the spot is not necessarily in the right spot on every table. Be careful, the spot could be half an inch toward's your opponents pocket. Making your spot shot a slightly steeper cut.

If you are going to stoop low enough to use tactics like that, you might find it easier to just grab your beer and take a swig just before you spot the ball. That way, your hand is nice and wet when you grab the ball and spot it.

Neil, that would be underhanded. I believe spotting a particular ball is what they call "gamesmanship."

Just semantics to make one feel better about what they are doing. Just look at what the intent is. That will tell you all you need to know.

whatever ball he misses a lot

Chris,
I dont know if there is a rule on it but id spot a stripe, solid is more consistent that is if you want to win, but id spot anything he requested. Usually whatever i grab....but if hes pulling moves on me...yeah a stripe.

Just another lovely day in paradise...

This needs to be looked at from the opposite viewpoint. If your opponent has scratched and you are receiving a spot shot, make sure YOU are right near the ball return so you can spot the ball first.

Why you have to deal with it?

Chris,
More often that not unfortunately at least in my world. Great players have a real problem losing so they tend to want to pull subtle moves. If youre playing a real player and you can identify his little things he does to give him an edge and you manage to do a few of yours that he cant identify then its all good and part of the play. I dont play a lot for money but I do have a really good friend that cusses and crap rackes me....when that happens I know IM doing something good.....lol

Stop being a little turd and just spot the first ball that you grab from the pocket or ball return.

No $hit!!!!

I've got a friend who will appologize if he pulls out the 8-ball to spot and wants to replace it. I always let him know immediately that it Does Not Matter.

Myself, if I am spotting the ball and grab the 8-ball I replace it. I figure it's not worth it to start a pissing contest or have somebody throw a hissy fit. And this I do without saying a word. It's no big deal.

It dosnt matter its the same shot for all.To me if I dont have to do anything fancy, its always a half ball hit. Pretty simple

Chris,

Why do you formally end one thread for all of the 'unhealthy attention' it recieved & then in the same manner, start yet another one that could very easily do the same.

I for one will not contribute any further than this to whatever your intentions are unless you state them clearly beyond mis-interpretation.

If you are at the pool hall and your butthole starts to itch, do you openly shove your hand down your pants and scratch it through your underwear, or do you discreetly find a chair that you can sit on and slide around?

Hey, look....you've started another hypothetical thread to incite the masses further. Proud of yourself?

Do you think that you'll even state your own opinion in this one? After all, the last one went 30 pages and you never declared your opinion, which you pointed out several times....

Methinks thou art a $hit-stirrer. Enjoy.

The "6" ball. Its the number one missed ball as the brain has trouble with the color green. That should really get the comments going.
