Espiritu Cues...

Hi guys,

I have recently been interested in quite a few designs I've seen from Russ Espiritu. I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money right out of the gate so since I've never actually played one, but I've been looking around at his stuff on ebay and other more budget oriented sites which carry the production line stuff he's put out in the last few years. There's about 5 currently listed on ebay (by the same seller) for around $600 which I don't recognize and can't find anywhere else. According to the pictures they were made in 2012. Is anyone familiar enough with Espiritu's cues to be able to explain how these cues can be listed for $600 when every other Espiritu I've seen is $1K+?

Hi,

Espiritu cues start at around $ 330 for the plain models with 1 shaft.
The ones on ebay look like they retail for around $800, maybe a dealer
ordered a bunch and is selling them a little over cost.

Post a link to the Ebay listings.

You can get a lot of Espiritu cue for the money. Local markets will often drive the cost of a cue up, but you can get them for much less. Russ' cues don't tend to appreciate on the secondary market as much as many others, but they are really good playing cues.

I have been an Espiritu dealer for many years, although I have pretty much retired now.

If you don't find what you want, send Russ a direct text message and see what he has available...he won't answer most phone calls. If interested in contacting him, PM me and I will give you his contact info.

Here is my son's playing cue made by Russ for Mike Gulyassy way back:

Thanks for the replies guys.

It won't let me post the link for another 5 posts (internet troll/spam defense I'm assuming). If you search for 'espiritu cue' on ebay you'll see the same 5 or so that I'm looking at currently...

Looks like he is definitely a dealer. Nice cues...no exotic materials, one shaft, fairly priced, IMO. It won't let me post them, either.

I sent you a private message about an Espiritu that I have.......

I picked up one of Russ's cues last spring.
Made in 1996.
It's my first cue with a piloted stainless steel joint (5/16x14).
I had it re-finished over the summer.
Its a fabulous playing cue, and it's gorgeous.
The wife says no more cues unless I sell one.
If you'd like, PM me for more details.

Cheers.

I have owned 3 different Espiritu cues and i will never play with anything else. I just had him make me a gambler cue and it plays great and the price was unreal. He made it with 2 shafts and a lot of ivory for $1200 and the cheapest person other than his price was $1800 and he does a great job. If i were you i would get in touch with him and design your own cue. Good luck

Here is a Espiritu I have. May be interested in parting with it. Let me know if you have an interest.

Thanks,
Jim

My very first custom was an Espiritu. For whatever reason, his cues don't seem to hold their value or appreciate as well as some. Not sure I completely understand that as he makes a quality cue that plays well. I definitely regret having sold that cue, it played very good.

Thanks to all for the responses. I think I'm going to go ahead with ordering the one that interested me originally and then down the road if it plays as well as I think it will I'll contact Russ personally to order a custom. All the advice is much appreciated.
