6-TCG-3212 TCGT 32.51 HO1 or 6-TCG-3222 TCGT 32.52-AK HO1, I don't know the exact size that would fit me yet. Those like pictured in this post
The reviews are great so I would like to replace ones I use now with these. But I fail finding a store that would sell them. Especially in retail, i.e. not by 10 packs. Tried to email HQ Tools, all three branches, but got no response.

Would be thankful for any help (advise where to look for, contact infos, assistance with purchase, any kind of).

Hello, I have sent you a private message.

They have them for both 1/4 & 3/8 that 3 is for a 3/8" with a .008 radius I actualy prefer the 1/64 radius as it cuts smoother for me.These are great inserts.

Seems those tooling companies make enough bucks so that they don't bother even to reply to my inquiries. Usshoptools ignored me just like HQ Tools.

Wayde, sent you a pm. Maybe I will be a little lucky with your help.

Did you CALL them(HQ tools)?

I have never have a problem with HQ. In fact, my experience has been quite the contrary.

If you need a couple to get by, I believe I have some surplus. I think they were about 10 a piece.

I found it hard from Russia, even via skype. I don't trust my hearing language skills, especially in such a technical subject as lathe machinery. Reading and typing about it I feel much easier.
Thank you for willing to help. Sent you a PM.

So far, still looking for assistance with purchase of the inserts mentioned.

If I can be pointed in the right direction on what you need I will get them and send them to you.

Tom, my sincere thanks for offering me help as well. As soon as I get a reply from Randy I will send you an email.

PM replied to. And yes my inserts are for 3/8. They are sold on Ebay as well...

I don't know what the IC is on these, but I have purchased them on Ebay before(in fact I'm using one now) and they are quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else...

huh, never considered searching fleabay :embarrassed2: But anyway this offer is not for me. The price is good but only for those who are certain about what they purchase, so they buy 10-pack. For the time being I would need no more than 4, just to give it a try (and for some prolonged use in case I like them).

Believe me, you will like them. I have them on tool holders for every lathe I use. I use them for trimming tips instead of razor blades, I use them for turning phenolic, for turning squares to rounds, for fitting shafts to butts and whatever else that I need to single point. About the only thing I use a router for is turning my butts as they may chatter a little bit around the A-joint. I really don't know as I've never tried it. I wish hat I had found them 30 years ago.

Dick, thanks for chiming in.
I use them for trimming tips instead of razor blades
and how do you do that? (note: I imagine you meant you shape the dome with them. If you trim the side, that's clear)

I trim the sides to the ferrule. I use a wood turners skew with a wire edge to shape the front of the tip.

Randy aka pescadoman, you've got email and pm, please check.

Tom aka Tom Hay ;), any news on the subject please?

I am getting ready to try these gt inserts out. Anyone care to share what works best far as the radius goes? The .50, .51 or the .52 ? Or does the sharper radius (.50) work better for facing and the (.52) work better for turning?

Thanks for any help,
Donnie

as a note, in regard with inches, these radius read .004, .008 and .016 (1/64) respectively
