I have been able to get close a few times using low inside and lightly masseing the cue ball. Even then I'm only hitting half way between the diamond and the pocket.

anybody have any idea on how to make this shot even 1/25 times.

It requires help from chalk on the contact point. Smear plenty of chalk around the equator of the object ball. Then hit the cue ball with maximum outside spin (hit the side of the cue ball opposite the pocket you're shooting into). You need to hit pretty hard and as thin as humanly possible.

The extra chalk allows the spinning cue to grab the object ball and shove it a few degrees more towards the pocket. Without the chalk, you'd do great just to hit the middle of that first diamond.

Well, I coulda sworn I read somewhere that Bob smeared it with chalk.
But I may be misremembering. What he DOES say is that it will not work with a clean ball.

So, if you don't put chalk on it manually... it needs to have picked up a significant amount from everyday use.

If anyone claims they can do it without the help of some crud, just film a video of yourself making the shot, and include footage of you wiping off the ball with a towel before shooting it.

If I weren't such a nit I'd bet against it

More friction , more better of course.

But it can be done with 'normal' balls. Even new balls naturally gear effect, albeit to a much smaller degree.

I've even managed to pull it off a time or 2 myself.

I don't remember Bob mentioning the chalk subject at all so I may be wrong on that , if so then I meant to say you don't 'need' the chalk regardless.
