American pool players have been introduced to Chinese 8-ball:
9 ft. table
Snooker cushions
Snooker pockets
No diamonds
In other words, English 8-ball on a bigger table

While Star has been the table sponsoring World Snooker, this 8-ball tournament used Joy tables. Apparently Star won't let players it sponsors play on other brands.
One poster says he prefers the Joy tables. Certainly snooker commentators have been noting odd reactions from the Star cushions more frequently. Makes one think Star might have problems with manufacturing standards.

this event could be titled, "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Using the Tangent Line." Because if you watch the play you will see that they run into balls a lot or go through tight spaces using the stun shot and the tangent line considerably.
I don't know if they [American players] would like playing in such conditions, but it would be good for them, especially to learn on. You simply cannot have a poor stroke and pot balls.
