11 ball break and run challenge for $1000 run as director

I was wondering how to run a $1000 break and run 11 ball bounty on a table . I plan as coordinator to add the 1k myself and the cost of chance to run out $20 with all of the entry's to go to the pot .also panning to stream live so all can be audited. I have never done something like this and am trying to make everything kosher so everything runs smooth? If any one has any good ideas it would be much appreciated . I have a 10 ft Brunswick anniversary with great lighting 760 simonis i am trying to have this competition to bring better players into the community here in central Washington i am concerned with the legal aspects of this challenge thinking it the pot may get big and i want to televise it on the internet .I am a business owner we run a piercing business out of the building i have my table in and wanted to run this break pot with out pissing of the gaming commission here in WA state .i was planning to have the break and run on Sundays with a rotation of the people that wanted to try it for $20 a pop and i could do this every Sunday for about 3 hours it all depends on the amount people want to throw at it . 11 ball on a 10 ft is not the easiest so i think i could find it very entertaining.this is a bounty on my practice table.

Make it a raffle. If a person's number is called they get a chance to break and run. Also, you should probably make the $1000 added just for a break and run and have the rest of the pot go to balls made on and after the break (say $20 a ball or something), that way lower level players (those who have zero chance at breaking and running) will have a reason to play.

I plan on doing the run out on a ten ft table the idea is to get the pot very large so it will draw great players i have the table set up and i am in a good location for the NW players to have a shot at it .
 
Sounds like a cool idea! anywhere in particular you'll be holding this competition? and if you're adding $1000, for your sake I suggest you make it on a diamond :P
 
the 10 ft i have will be plenty challenging i have great lighting the problem i seem to have is how to have this competition with out breaking any laws.
 
My reasoning for putting up the 1k is to get the community in my area to get the pool bug and get to see some of the better players the challenge would be in Ellensburg WA. central WA. a great area for NW player to get to with out to much travel.

Since you brought this up I will tell you what happened at Jamaica Joes in OKC this last week. This may not be exact but close. Enter the weekly tourney. Raffle tickets $1, as many as you like. Enter other people, which is what happened. Pot was $10000!! Draw one ticket once a week and run a rack of ten ball. Several got close, even to the ten ball. Our own AZ pal OKIE did run out. Nice open break and a shot at the one. The run is on the JJ website. Ken has worked very hard on his game the last year or so and it paid off. $1000 a ball. Do the math! Congrats Ken! I believe this is up again and is not a pot that builds up but starts and stays at that amount!! Could be wrong but don't think so. Probably a 7 and under tourney or Chip and Joey would be camping out at JJ's!
 
Is the added money a one time deal? If so, what are your plans for keeping it self-sustaining, and replenish the pot?

What NORMALLY happens with break and run pots, to keep the pot alive after someone wins it, is you only win 75% of the pot, the other 25% starts it over. So if he puts in a grand and charges $20 a try and it takes 50 tries before someone beats its, you've got 2k in the pot, but you only win $1500, the other $500 stays in the pot the help rebuild it.

i would have no problem paying 75% of pot and using 25%to seed but in WA i may have problems with gaming laws because i have no gaming license i am currently looking for a church to sponsor and they could collect $5 out of every $20 .
I was hoping the find the Church Of The Good Hustler.

Look into your charitable gaming laws.... In IL if you donate 10% you can be considered a charity. Also in IL, if no one is making a profit off of it then you techincally do not need a gaming license. You are just a facilitator, not a profiting organization.
