Truman's Bank Tournament

I'm completely with Jamie. John has every right to be allowed to participate in these tourneys in my opinion. I will not support them if JB is not permitted to play.

I don't know what the reasons are but can certainly say I go to and play in these to be challenged and play better players.
 
Why not just tell it like it is...Truman is so jealous of JB that he can't stand it and that's why he tries every way in the world to bar him from tournaments he runs...
 
all of you bank players need to come play some banks, lots fun good action and a great warm up for the derby, so come out and play, good food bar drinks,motels close by.------------ michaels billiards 513-860-0044

I was interested in promoting this event and providing a LIVE feed. Michael never returned my call.

I like Truman and what he does to promote the sport he loves. Maybe another time.

There's always tons of action when this tourney rolls through town so c'mon up and sweat it or bet it either way it'll be fun!

Is John Brumback allowed in this tourney or not? It looks like the answer is no but many of us want to know why if he is not allowed. It would be a sincere shame if he were not allowed..

Please elaborate on this scenario. It's your room, I'd think you would have some say in this.

That is really disappointing news Michael. I am one of John's sponsors and that puts a very bad taste in my mouth regarding this tournament. I really want to play and attend the event, but I don't think I can bring myself to support it with this senseless banning of John Brumback.

This is the kind of stuff that really hurts the game we all love.

I was at Michaels last night and was told that Johnny is not playing in the tourney......I asked why and the only answer I got, was that it is very personal....WTH!!!!

Later in the evening I hear alot of people talking and I couldn't believe what they were saying......The talk was that someone else asked Truman if Johnny was playing in the bank ring game and I was told that Truman said, and I quote "If I have anything to do with it, Johnny won't be in the bank ring game at the Derby"!!!!!

I am not a great pool player, but I play good enough that I have been kicked out of some tourneys in my past and it sucks!!! My problem with Johnny not being allowed to play is this: We don't have very many tourneys locally where the "great" pool players come out. I was gonna play in this bank tourney just to be able to play with the big dogs and see how I held up against them, not to mention the cheap lessons and memories that you have playing against champions.

I have decided that I will not play the tourney because of this crap....It sucks because I had to make alot of phone calls letting people know that Johnny won't be there (since I tried to get people to come out using Johnny's good name).....Sorry Johnny, but people love to watch you play bank and I used it to get my friends out of the house.

People like me don't have the skill to ever win a tourney like the Derby or any other tourney that has champions in it......If it wasn't for people at my lower skill level and love of good pool, None of these better players would EVER make a quarter in tourneys because there wouldn't be any.

If you take away us so called "ball-bangers" who love too play in the tourneys with the big dogs, then there would be no Derby or any other big tourney for the greats of this game.

I hope Truman changes his mind in future events about Johnny.

Leave your personal issues at home because we don't care!!!

One last thing.....For those of you that say people hide behind a screen name, my name is Rick Gyarmati......Fair is fair and Johnny should be able to play in any tourney that is open.

Good post Rick...and speaking of ring games, will there be a bank ring game tonight on the 10 footer at Michaels? If there is I am assuming John is barred from that to especially since he won the last one....:eek:

You hit it on the head Brenster! John is a class act, and should be allowed to play any open tourney. If you can't beat him practice and use the tourney as cheap lessons or sets.
 
what i heard

Second hand information so take it for what it is. I heard that the tiff started between John and Truman was over a bank ring game in which it came down to the final two players and John asked Truman if he could play safe when it got down to two players and Truman said no and JB called BS on it. Anybody that knows Trumans tourneys knows that he runs his Tourneys by his rules like it or not.. I have the upmost respect for both men. I'ts pretty obvious that egos are also involved or they would have worked it out for the good of the game...

I believe that was at Tunica... Truman banned John from his tournaments before that alleged incident happened.

There is a bank ring game at 9 p.m., but Truman told me he didn't know who was playing in it. He did say that Johnny is NOT!!

I call BS on the whole thing......there is nobody in the pool world that gets along with everybody for one reason or another.

All I have heard for years is that Tony Fargo is the best bank pool player for the cash.....I would like to see Johnny match up with him at the Derby since somebody posted that Tony will be there.
