I am one with my cue
Silver Member
looking for a hand held tool to shape my tip. I hate when it mushrooms. Iv seen a few on ebay looking to see if anyone has one for sale.

I hace a cue shark, not sure if they sell them any more. Paid 30 or so, very happy with it. Also have used a willard's shaper, the ultimate tip tool, a piece of PVC pipe cut in half and some of the auto body self adhesive sand paper in it and a 150 grit on a small square of thin cork. They all worked. What exactly are you looking for? If you are using a layered tip, I don't recommend a tip pick, but some people use them and it seems to work for them. Good luck, John

tip tool

i have the cuetec 3 in 1 shape stuff poke but that's not what i need. The tool i need is when the tip mushrooms on the sides and i want to make it even to the furrule. With out damaging the furrule. And it should be something i can hold in my hand. Not to a drill or leath.

Check with member banker123. I bought a simple mushroom cutter from him and it works perfectly!! Cheap as well. Looks like a handheld pencil sharpener. Great tool.

Have you seen the porper shavers? They are like 5$ from walmart and on ebay and what not.

I'm curious as to how the Ultimate Tip Tool can trim a mushroomed tip. From the looks of the tool it can burnish the sides of a tip, but from my experience when you burnish a mushroomed tip, all you're doing is squashing the sides in toward the center. Then the tip quickly re-mushrooms when you use it. I think you have to actually remove excess material to truly fix a mushroomed tip. Can the U.T.T. do this?

I have never cared for the "Ultimate Tip Tool", because it doesn't actually trim the edges...

the wedge system will crush in the sides of the tip (removing the mushrooming)...but, it's actually re-fluffing the tip back up taller...and it to me alters the way that my tip played from when it was packed down...making it a bit softer hitting until it packs back down again...and re-mushrooms...

That's on a single layer tip...Triangle...

Otherwise, I'm sure it's a great tool for it's other applications.

I'd look into more of a tool that will remove the mushrooming by cutting, trimming, or sanding it off...but be careful not to damage the ferrule...A lathe is best!

Anyhow, just my 2 cents...I've been thinking about picking up the
"Last 4 Ever" tip tool...but I've got a lathe, and do local repairs, so, I'm actually good on all my stuff...

Pardon my 2 cents, if it conflicts with any other opinion.
