Great Movie Scenes featuring Pool

I was just watching Tombstone yesterday, I've seen it many times before but it's been a few years. While it is definitely a great movie in it's own right, there is one scene that just speaks to me.

The scene when the Earp brothers are at the bar discussing business while playing pool. Morgan Earp is on the table playing a few good shots, while Virgil and Wyatt Earp are talking business, then when Morgan misses a shot he jumps up and says "I love this game!". He then proceeds to tell his brothers that they all need to have billiards rooms in all their houses once they make it. The table and equipment looked really cool too. Man! What a great scene :grin-square:

I know we have only a few decent movies that are actually about pool, like TCOM, Hustler, PHJ, and a few more not so decent movies...

There must be a whole bunch of movies (decent or not) that have some Great Scenes featuring Pool...

If you're like me and like reading an online pool forum than I'm sure you're a pool playing nut too :thumbup:

So what movies and scenes come to mind for you? My fellow pool nut :winknudge:

PHJ was a decent movie? Could have fooled me.
 
I just thought of a really good one. "Diggstown" Oliver Platt's character is gambling at a form of speed pool, I believe betting on who can run the table fastest. It's been 20 years since I saw it but I have vivid visual of him making two balls at once during his speed run.

It seems like he stops the cue ball when he does it, too.

I've searched on youtube but can't find it. Cool movie too.

Wait. I found it and my long term memory is still good. Short term memory is shot though.

There is a pretty cool pool scene in the movie Elektra. Cant really remember but i believe its a blind guy that does a nice trick shot..

I just remembered one scene I saw in Boardwalk Empire last season.

Arnold Rothstein was playing 8 Ball on this really nice table while he was talking business with Lucky Luciano and Mayer Lansky. AR was talking about the different moves you have to make as a gangster and he likened one such move to his next shot. He begins to describe the situation and how he can play it like a two way shot. He points out how he'll make a move knowing that even if he fails he'll end up in a good spot. Then he proceeds to play a great shot (no editing or trick photography, apparently) on the 8 that he dogged but ended up completely snookering Luciano. The look on Lucky's face is priceless.

That was a hell of a plot device =)

I trained Oliver Platt for that scene in the movie. We worked for two weeks prior to the shoot. It was complicated because he had to act like he was drunk but the audience knew he was faking, and still shoot at the same time.

I also created the trick shot that was used in Carlito's Way. I was on the set of the movie and worked with Brian De Palma and Al Pacino in setting up the scene. Al was very thorough and wanted to know everything, like how a player would chalk and move around the table.
