Horrible customer service from Silverfox

I have a silverfox 4x8 case that is tearing at the seam where the shoulder strap is stitched on. I bought this case new about 6 months ago and I'm told I'm shit out of luck. You would think they would take care of such an issue but all they said they would do was fix it for $40. I just wanted to say thanks to the guys at silverfox sticking it to me.

Those Nauggas don't have very strong hides.

For that price, you could take it to a shoe maker/luggage repair shop and have it repaired with leather. Probably last you almost forever then.

I recommend a good shoe repair shop too.

I'm lucky. I've got an great, old-school shoe repair shop just a few miles from home. But he's in his 70s. Not many left.

Used to be all over when I was a youngin. Now, we have one but they are a couple of young guys who do luggage and shoes etc. Nice to see at least one plying the trade.

My mistake, one older Italian fellow but he is getting close to retiring too I imagine. And no, his name isn't Geppeto.

I've got one of those that I bought about 15 years ago. The leather looks completely different. Back then they replaced my case when the leather tore, no questions, but I have heard things are a bit different there now.
It shouldn't be too difficult of a fix for a shoe guy or even a tailor. With a leather scrap you could probably do it yourself. Good luck. When it's time to replace that you might consider one of the predator soft cases. About the same price range and seems to be built pretty well

The naugga underneath might tear out from the perforation holes of the needle. I think the shoe maker would put a reinforcing piece on the inside of the case as well and sew it right thru to the top piece. A piece a tad wider than the existing one and its good to go for a few more years.

While hes at it, I would get him to do the other side too.

I called to talk to them today and they told me none.

I did not know that SilverFox was still in business. That particular design for the D-ring is the worst. The stitching that looks so strong actually perforates the vinyl and creates a tear line. And with nothing inside the vinyl to stop it from stretching it will always tear along that line. We always put a layer of nylon inside and in some cases even metal to insure that the vinyl is only decorative and not taking the weight of the case.

Although they won't fix it the repair shouldn't be too costly. Just make sure that the repair shop adds something extra to strengthen the retainer and relieve the stress.

I highly recommend that it be done something like this,

This is a metal casing that is riveted under the leather on both sides of the D-ring. Then another piece of leather is sewn around it for decoration and extra strength.

Here is what it looks like without the extra leather.

This type of retainer essentially relives all stress from the body.

Thanks for the suggestion and your right I will probably do something along those lines. I just can't believe a company would put out crap like this n think its completely ok. The guy I talked to made it sound like my fault for carrying around to much weight in the case. I guess that's my fault for assuming that I could carry 4 cues in a 4x8 case. What an idiot I am.

SF should fix it for free and they should immediately change this method. Just yesterday I went though my case collection and took pictures of a bunch of parts and stress points with the intention of putting up a guide to what to look for and what to avoid when buying a cue case.

I will definitely add your pictures to that guide. Hope you are able to get it fixed without too much hassle.

They will heel me, they will save my sole, they would even dye for me! What more could I ask for?
