No, you are absolutely correct. It's been fixed and I thought I had taken a picture of it since. Just a minute and I'll go snap a close-up of the joints now.

Sorry, my big case is in the car and my wife has gone to work in it. She'll be home for lunch and I'll snap a photo then.
 
Looks like this might be a cue that was put together. It appears the bottom black ring is missing on the bottom of the shaft and the butt seems strange as well.

Do you have any idea what you need for the cue?

I was on the way back from Nashville and left the large case in the car, but no, I don't normally leave them in the car.

So here's the joint after it was repaired. The guy said that whoever had it before had screwed the joint together with a piece of string stuck in it and apparently, it stayed together for a while (years?). That's why the joint came apart. He was able to remove the sleeve and put it back in the shaft and it joins up nicely now. I took these pictures 5 min. ago.

Well, I'm trying to upload the pics and they are hanging at about 30%. I'll try again in a few minutes.

The shaft

This is the first Palmer I have ever seen, and I just knocked around a few balls with it. It hits very nicely, but the shaft has a strange taper to it. It seems very slightly larger at the end. Almost indistinguishable. Is that normal for a Palmer?

Looking at the Palmer catalogs, I don't see a cue that matches yours in any of them. Palmer didn't use rubber bumpers until their third catalog, I believe. If it's a Palmer, I think it's a one-of-a-kind custom order. It could also be from several other cuemakers who made similar, high quality cues...

Having said that, I wouldn't mind owning it!

Someone has said that it might have been rebuilt after being damaged. I can't TELL that it's been damaged, other than the joint pin coming out and having to be reset. It plays great and looks great. There's no evidence of it being damaged or repaired.
