First post! Building a pool room...

Hello all. My first post. I've researched home poolrooms here, and have gotten great ideas, some very talented people here.

I'm converting my garage into a poolroom. I am keeping the garage door intact.
The poolroom will be approximately 20 x 16. 9 footer Diamond pro am.

Now the dilemma... flooring!
Its been talked about here, I know. I'm wondering now, are you happy with your choice? Hardwood, cork, tile wood, carpet.....
I really appreciate your feedback and I will post before and afters.

Table

Hard floors are hard on the back. There is some floor fatigue mats on the market.

Well, the carpet feels really good on your feet. I used that in my basement. But now, after a few years, I wish I had put wood flooring around the pool table. If you decide to change the carpet, you wouldn't have to move the table. The carpet gets sort of discolored around the table where you walk, and you know the chalk dust drops off your tip when you chalk up. Just my opinion. In a garage, you probably wouldn't want carpet and wood, but if you put carpet, when it gets old, you will have to move the table.

Are you doing anything to the garage door at all? False wall or some sort of sealant/insulation? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my house in No. VA when I get back, but I don't want to do too much for when I sell the house down the road. I was just thinking subflooring/carpet and the light...bare bones. I don't even have drywall up, just insulation! I'm getting a Diamond ProAm set up as soon as I'm back in the States (Summer), but everything that isn't covered in Tournament Blue Simonis is not really a big deal to me...but I'm starting to think I'm in for more than I bargained. Unfortunately, none of my rooms (including a massive finished walk out basement/rec room) is more than 12' wide, so it looks like the garage it is...:confused:

As for flooring in a garage area I would go with the fake wood flooring. Or another great alternative could be those puzzle piece foam thing-a-ma-gigs.

These would also come apart easy if you ever do sell the house, it's doubtful that the new owners would want a pool room and not a garage.

I will let you know in a few days when my contractor has the grand plan. I don't think we'll do the false wall. As for flooring, I'm not feeling carpet. The wear concerns me. I'll keep you updated though. And this is a much bigger project than I initially thought.
