I was thinking about the dilemma That the United States pro players have Concerning financial support. I know in other countries the government gives financial aid to the top players. Maybe the answer is to look to state government. it would be a good idea to convince a state to be supported pool players that their state could be the next hot bed for a professional sport. It would also in so many ways help state economy. If the billiard community would try to get one state to jump on the ban wagon others will follow. I think the opportunity for a state to be first to go in a different direction than the same o sports. To be what Chicago was to pool in the fifties at the state level. With the pool n playerss traveling over here to play that's gotta be good for local economy to a point. just imagine the Filipinos having conversations of why the players in Kentucky are the best in the world. The billiard community does not need a handout he needs opportunity. State run tournamentS at the local level. State champions Having more prestige then world champion. That's my thought for today.

You may want to edit your post, not sure what a porn player is.

Good luck convincing most anyone to come up with money for players of a non spectator sport, that contribute nothing of substance to society, in a time when the budget is already overspent.

I don't think there should be hand outs. You're right it's not a spectator sport It's a participation SportAnd that would be 1 of the sales pitches To motivate people to get out and spend money. The government waste so much money on things that don't work Maybe they would be open to something new. They build baseball field football field basketball courts tennis court part nobody uses. We're talking about the government they love to waste money why not on pool. What do pro basketball players in football players contribute to society. Take away the money They're low life motherf* just like the rest of us. Is far more worse people in the world in pool players. Politicians lol an golfers.

Our government sponsors runners and everything in between
, why not sponsor some pool.
I also get what easy is saying
It's kind of a double edged sword

Understand about the double edge sword. Government help equals government control. I just had a crazy thought this morning. I could imagine state tournament. I could imagine small business loans for pool hall owners. I read alot of post on here complaining about the foreign government support of their pool players. And I think that takes away the credibility of being the best in the world. Sorry for my Moment of weakness. I've been playing on my own dollars for 20 years I guess I wish I had a backer Sometimes.

Before making suggestions like that, it would make sense to understand how the government subsidies in other countries work. Where does the money for the players come from? How does it get passed down to the players? How much do they get and when do they get it? Do they have to give something in return? What's the trade-off?

They (the Government) are wanting to take our guns, and now you're wanting to give them our pool cues. What on earth makes you think that a government (any government) is the solution to our problems? Outrageous.

This has to be done in the private sector. There are plenty of fans who would be happy to contribute if they could actually be convinced it was not a scam. You are not talking about very much money by the way. The real problem is, there is no reason to do it. What is the purpose, to just pay players so they can play pool and not work? Why not do the same for fishing?

I know a lot of guy who would love to get a check every month to just fish all day.
Is there something to your idea you are not really explaining? I don't get why anyone should care about these players? Pool is by and large, an amateur sport. It exists whether there is a pro tour or pro players regardless.

You are missing one thing, they actually pass laws and create regulations aimed at preventing pool rooms opening in many towns. Ever try to open a pool room? Pool is NOT an acceptable sport or pastime in many peoples minds and a lot of then sit on city commissions. At best, you may be able to get some kind or small government grant. I don't know how, but they do give money if you ask for it right.

I'm sure taxpayers would love the idea. Pool offers society so much more than school books, healthcare and good roads. Let's cut the waste and use that money to support pool!

I approve IF it's funded exclusively through taxes on those who support the idea. Lastdimetaker, you're up.

Government aid????

The government has no money of its own. Never has.

When "the government" gives money to someone, it has first taken that money out of your pocket or out of my pocket.

Or, by borrowing the money, the government has pledged to take it out of our pockets some time in the future.

The last thing we need is more "government aid" .... especially for something as trivial as pool. (And I say that as a rabid pool fanatic.)

I can take it.

Everybody I'm truly sorry, I was up all night long looking at peoples post. I woke up this morning Clearly In a retarded state of mind. I need to be beaten I have given other people hard times. I miss. Let the thrashing continue ..

Don't worry about a thing. If I had a quarter for every time I got flamed...well, I'd have about a dollar and a half, but that's beside the point. Keep posting.
Listen, lastdime, if pool teaches anything, it teaches independence. What you need to know about the game of pool won't always come from a book, a DVD, and most certainly not a government agency. It will come from experience and being able to take what the table has to offer, and playing it to the best of your ability.

The Government screws up just about everything they touch. I'm for way less Government and way, way less of them spending my tax dollars, particularly on stupid endeavors that can't stand on their own.
