Just bought a few Micarta ferrules from Joe B at Cue components, In the listing is just says how great they are but does not tell you exactly what kind of Micarta it is. They are white in color and have no yellow tint to them at all, When you look very close at it you can see a weave pattern to it, But what it is paper / linen / canvas ???????????

I am pretty sure the ones from years ago used Asbestos. Mostly likely linen. Why don't you ask Joe?

I had a problem with them, kept getting dirty with chalk when used and sandpaper , glue etc. , until now I coat them with Cyno at the right moment and they come out great...

The pic attached are what's commonly known as Mason's Micarta now.
Not the old Westinghouse one.
It has linen in it.
The lighter colored one is one I got from Mason about two years ago iirc.
The two much yellower pair are new ones I got from Alex Brick.
Mason was Alex's apprentice one time and was the one who discovered this material.
The color on them varies. I don't really care about the color . So long as they machine cleanly, pass the Robogrip test and are clean outside.

Those images might be of help.

The old Westinghouse had paper in it. I still have a few sent by customers.

Again, the color varies with these materials ( including phenolics ).

An inside joke.
I put rubber pad around the threaded ferrule and crank it with the Robogrip just a smidgen.
Really though, you can just wear a rubber glove and crank the threaded ferrule and it will sit right.

PS
Again, these materials vary in color. Makes me wonder how many foremen they have at Norplex.
