Magic Rack and 9/10 ball rating drill

When using the magic rack I almost always sink at least one ball on the break and get a very nice spread.

Using a standard rack, it is basically impossible to freeze all the balls touching. Sinking a ball on the break is not guaranteed and usually there are problem clusters.

Doing the drill my rating is higher using the magic rack.

Which do you think will give a more accurate rating ?
 
Which 9/10 ball rating drill are you referring to?

Also interested in responses, it certainly makes any drill or game easier when the balls are breaking consistently well.

Using a regular rack, you are measuring your ability to rack and the tables ability to accept a rack LOL.

I think using the magic rack would be a better rating of skill in playing.

What you may try to do is spot the ball pocketed. Maybe not all, but one would do. That may simulate a "bad rack".
 
I think the Magic Rack would give you a more true rating.

Where I play, the house balls are all different sizes so it's difficult to consistently make a ball on the break. I also agree with the poster above. If you want, you can spot the ball you made on the break, which will give you a wide open table but not the guaranteed ball. :)

Break, take ball in hand on 1st shot, run until you miss, count the # of balls sunk. Repeat for 10 racks. Total the # balls sunk and divide by 10 for an ave.
 
On one hand the Magic rack is good cause of almost no clusters, but on the other hand what if your in a 9Ball or 10ball tournament not using a magic rack and your opponent breaks and Fouls now you got ball in hand with clusters.

Lets face it not every monster break will be cluster free. Maybe mix it up use a regular rack then the magic rack every few games.
 
The rules of pool state that the balls should be racked as tightly as possible. The magic rack gives you a tighter rack, therefore it's the better test of skill.
