Here comes a dead horse. SVB talk.

I was ask {in a national magazine} what my goal was in Professional Pool (back in 93) - my reply was "I want to be the #1 Players in the world for a period of time"....the next question was "then what will you do?" I said without hesitation "probably stop playing and do something else"..... I just didn't see any real future in professional pool, now, as funny as it seems, I see HUGE potential in professional pool.
Hey, that's exactly what I did!

Freddie <~~~ except for that minor detail ...

Justin,

Didn't SVB finish second in the DCC Banks this year? Better take that game out of your equation.

Lyn

No, that was last year. I believe he went 2 and out this year.

In an All-Around match, right now I think I would have to pick Busty.

C.J quotes , I see HUGE potential in professional pool.

C.J. please elaborate !!!

I would like to see SVB decide to figger out 3c. I think he might be pretty good at it, after a day or 2.

I think Alex is the best all around player in the world and Dennis can beat shane at any rotation game for the $ which is why shane wont gamble with him.

REALLY?????????????

Shane will gamble with ANYONE. Make the game, the kid shows. Dennis and Shane are a coin toss on any given day. Call up Denny and see if he wants to race to 100, playing straight up 10 ball against SVB.

NOBODY, I REPEAT NOBODY, WANTS THAT GAME. Even Alex doesn't want to race to 100 with the kid anymore.

SVB has his ups and down, like EVERYONE. There's not a player in the world right now you can get odds FROM to bet on Shane. At the very best your getting even money.

Shane had a stellar year last year. The only thing he can improve on at this point is his travel game. It's tough to win over seas. Once he gets down how to really adjust mentally and physically to overseas travel he will start stacking world titles too.

Shane is a toss up with pry 3-5 other guys to be considered the best in the world right now. I'd pry put him #1 if playing state side, pry # 3-5, otherwise depending on format.

I thought Shane refused to play a 10-ball set with Dennis last year, at Jay Helferts house? I might be wrong, but I'm sure I remember reading/hearing Shane would only play one-pocket with him.

And there's nothing wrong with that, obviously. Dennis is a killer.

If this is true, why won't shane make the trip to play hennessee on a bar box?

Also I think Dennis would beat up on Shane in a race to 100.

Would definitely rank him in the top 5, but not sure he would be #1. In fact ranking the top 5 players in order really depends on who's shooting better at the time because with them it really is a crap shoot with any game at any time. In straight pool I think Thorsten Hohmann and John Schmidt are slight favorites. 9-ball has a crap load of players who would pretty much be a coin flip with him like Dennis Orcollo, Alex Pagulayan, Johnny Archer, Ronnie Alcano, etc. 10-ball he might have a slight advantage but the same people I mentioned in 9-ball have given him problems in the past. One pocket has the usual suspects in Scott Frost, Efren Reyes, and maybe even Alex that are maybe even slight favorites. There's no doubt he is in the top 5 maybe even top 3 but to say he's the clear cut #1 is kind of hard for me to see. Any given day with the pros.....

IMO, Shane is the best in the world with Dennis Orcullo in a close 2nd.

I never heard about this. Of course I wouldn't play any one for dough in some ones basement, also a SET is different than the long race to 100. It's a different game all together.

What does Hennessee want to play for? I guarantee if it was worth Shane's time he would make it happen. Any one can bark at Shane from the home town, in their house. Shane to the best of my knowledge has rolled Henne pretty hard in the past, i doubt he wants a REAL game.

If I remember correctly did Dennis say he doesn't like that long race format? A 3 day grind is brutal. I would love to see this get played. If you think Dennis would "beat up" Shane or vice versa for that matter, you're crazy. This would be a slug fest till the end. Dennis might be the only guy out there other that Alex (when he's on) that could step up in the long race format.

Shane in a race to 100 rotation is going to be odds on favorite against ANYONE. If you don't think so, get your man of choice and 10k, I'm sure Shane will be more than happy to play...

Ray Hansen said in another thread that Hennessee has a standing offer to play shane for a whole flock of geese at his room. I believe that to be at least 5-10k.

Earl demolished Shane on the ten footer in a race to 100.

I am simply saying I think Dennis is a better player than Shane and would be the favorite in a long race. Everybody was saying at Hard Times that Dennis couldn't get any action from anybody. Shane was there and so were many others.

Jay has a nice table in a nice room from what I have seen. They ended up gambling playing one pocket at his house. So they just didn't gamble playing rotation games.

I won't pretend to know Shane's schedule or thought process, but think of it this way. He has a set schedule, and to fly out of his way, and there may or may not be a game there when he shows up. I'm sure henny's good for it, but still. I know for a fact SVB isn't dodging Hennessee. Why would he duck him but play Jesse B. on the bar box?????????? Doesn't seem to add up...

On any given day Denny O. and Shane are a coin toss. The hot hand that day will win. When you take a 100 game race over 3 days, your talking a completely different animal. Straight race to 100 is completely different than even playing 3 sets to 33-35 games per set. I will guarantee you Shane is the odds on favorite against ANYONE, playing 10 ball in this format.

Dennis can play, I don't think anyone is doubting that. I would say right now, if playing in the states, SVB and D.O. are going to be an even heat at any game. One will not be able to "beat up" the other.

Shane has legit said right from his mouth on multiple occasions, "I don't want to gamble with Dennis" and for the record Shane has NEVER EVER won when he tried in the past.

Not calling you a liar, but when? I've never heard him say this about anyone, and I've asked him. I don't know of any one that he won't play. I've heard him say he thinks Dennis is tough to beat, but I've never heard him say, "I won't gamble with Dennis." It's not like Dennis has ever pounded him. They've had close matches every time I've watch.

Either way, as I said before, I'd like to see them play the long race regardless.

Until he wins overseas consistently, he is NOT the best player in the world. In a race to 100 on a 10 footer, I'd take Earl, Alex & Dennis all day much less some of the other unknown heavyweights out there.
