Old Justis case

While I now use either one of his newer 4x6 lite's or a JB 4x8 butterfly, I have an old Justis case that is just a favorite for a number of reasons.

I still use it with some back up cues when I go to a strange room or travel and want to leave the case in my trunk. The problem was that the older cases have 2 8" pockets so there is no where to put a jump cue & I am not a fan of jump break combo cues. My solution was to build a jump cue (very nice Bocote) and shape the handle thin enough to fit upside down in one of the shaft tubes.

It is a 2x4 so I have my player & shaft; break cue & shaft; and jump cue handle and shaft in the remaining two shaft tubes.

It works great & I was just wondering if anyone thinks there is a market for jump cues like this for all the old Justis cases out there that people still like to use.

Great idea Joel, I actually had to buy a new case with a bigger pocket to fit my jump cue in, why didn't you think of this about 5 years ago...ha..I could have kept my old case. Tom

I just got a new 3x6 case, not Justis (unfortunately) but from Jiasen, Flowers tribute case, very nice. It has a jump cue pocket, but since I have a Lomax and it's a 3 piece both pieces of the butt won't fit unless I double them up, and then it takes away space from the bottom pocket.

Because of the interior, I experimented and was able to put the jump handle in one of the shaft holes, since it is thinner than a normal full sized cue butt, and can still cram another shaft in the hole next to it, but typically (right now) that is empty so it fits even better.

Good idea, will definitely help out people like me who can't fit it into a jump pocket, or don't have one, and don't want to strap to the outside of the case, get a jump cue sleeve, etc.

This is a great idea. I nearly ruined an old case trying to get a jump handle in a shaft tube. This could also solve storage issues with three piece jump cues. Keep us posted if you decide to produce these

My predator air fits joint first perfectly down the shaft hole in my justice case 2x4interior and my jb interior I just put in it.

Same problem with my Lomax jump cue.
I've never hit a ball with the cue, but after storing it in various cases, I finally just stuck it away in a 1x2 Ron Thomas case.

If the thin jump cue works well, there should be a market for them.

Yeah, I have a Lomax as well... The sort end piece is in a drawer somewhere, I'm sure I could find it if I tried but not worth carrying around. Actually made a new end piece for the short handle with a standard rubber bumper. Kind of like a permanent joint protector.

If I have a partial ball shallow jump I would rather use my break cue than an extended jump cue.

In my 3x4 JB Case, John provided cloth tubes that you place dowels or PVC in that allow me to place my Lomax jump cue butt in one of the slots without falling into the case. Simple and ingenious solution. Just keeps the butt at the same height as my playing and break cue for easy removal. The cloth tubes are EASY to remove if I need a different configuration.

Absolutely... In my Justis I use one shaft slot with a wooden dowel to house my jump cue butt and I use one of the large end slots with a dowel to house my extension.

Works well for anything "under length" you may want to keep in a case

Probably about $150 all in with a phenolic one piece tip, AAA maple shaft, radial pin, birds eye maple handle, trim and deco rings at shaft, joint and butt, rubber bumper.

Mine is about 9 ounces which is my preferred weight for a pure jumper.
