Emily Duddy VS Ine Helvik match Amway Cup March 2013

OH BOY! I just watched the first rack and had to turn it off. How do you go to the Amway Cup in China or whereever it is when you can't make balls that are hanging in the pocket? two chances in that rack where you missed complete hangers that most beginners would make. Unreal.

You didn't check the rest of her game out (haven't done so myself yet; will when I get home) ? I have had some opening jitters in matches before as well that some might not believe; then gone on to shoot light out pool.

Probably the same way a major league drops a fly ball, or a NBA star misses a gimme layup, or a NFL reciever drops a soft toss, in the end zone, that hits him right in the chest.... shit happens.... cause I know I've never missed an easy shot, ever

No offense meant but your post seems a bit harsh.

She did win the match 7-3 after traveling 1/2 way around the world. Some NFL teams can't even win 1/2 of their away games. Have you never heard of opening game jitters? Those 'hangers' both needed some good cut. I agree she should have made them. I don't think she ever said that she is the World Champion. She has come back on here after all of the guff of the other thread & asked us for constructive critique.

I'll give her credit for that & I hope she can sift through this thread to find something to help her which was what she was asking of us 'better' & more experience players.

Again, no offense intended.

Regards,

You pulled up a little too soon...
..second game she broke and ran out...that keeps even a world champion
sitting in his chair.

As for the attire...I think a pony tail is perfect for a lady pool player.
Choice of shoes are important also...stance first, looks second.
As for a mini skirt, I wouldn't enjoy betting on someone dressed like that...
..I think it is a disadvantage.
..but I would pay double admission to watch.:o

You got a fan here, Em...aim your sights high.

IIRC she started the other thread claiming she was a "great" player. That was laughable.

There is only one sportsman in the entire world that could go on a fans' discussion board and proclaim themselves to be 'great' without fear of contradiction, and that's Lionel Messi. No sane person could possibly argue with him. Every single other sportsman on the planet will divide opinion, to varying degrees.

It is good to see she is looking for constructive criticism. Mine is she overestimates her natural ability. In this video it was good to see she played within herself and kept it simple - that tactic can make limited players very difficult to beat. You don't NEED to be a great player to win pool matches.

Personally I would like to see Emily playing in better attire. You know... Nice slacks with flat bottom dress shoes and a nice top. No offense but I agree that when you play in pro events you should dress the part. Not attire that you would "sport" at Amsterdam Billiard Club. ;)

I figure as long as the tournament director had no problem with her attire, neither should I.

If you thought that was bad, you should have seen her SECOND match from this tournament. It was about an hour of poor shot choice after poor shot choice. Jitters are one thing. Playing the wrong shot repeatedly is another.

She dresses hot, and you guys complain? (She didn't ask for fashion tips.)

Some of us really know how to kill a thread, a player, and a poster.....and all at once too.

No kidding.. If she showed up to one our league nights, we'd be kicking ourselves silly :) But all of sudden, the typical pool player is offended at looking at an attractive woman... what happened to some men in this country :)

Agreed. The gawkers and perverts in this thread who think that "Less is more!" are not interested in your professional career.

It's more that just appearance, it's about comfort too. Playing in a tight, ultra-short mini-skirt puts you at a disadvantage because you're not able to stretch and bend as much as someone who is wearing pants. If you're going to be playing in long matches, flat heeled dress shoes are certainly more comfortable to wear than high heels or boots.

On a related note, Jeanette Lee is known for wearing more revealing outfits. However, she can dress very elegantly when playing pool too. Check out the link below of Jeanette Lee playing in the 2012 Amway Cup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehnZrBQO_OY . Jeanette is dressed in a black outfit with flat heeled shoes. She looks very stylish and professional...and hot too.

Along with talent, when trying to advance one's career, your appearance, attitude and professionalism does matter. Don't let the gawkers and pervs in this thread tell you otherwise.

Good luck, Emily!

I disagree completely as talent trumps all of that every single time. Without talent & knowledge, everything else does not matter.

OMG!

Did you guys see those pants Ine was wearing????

Holy crap!

And those shoes???? I mean, WTF, you could like totally see the tops of her feet!!!!

Oh, what's that you say?

There wasn't anything controversial about Ine's attire because she dresses like the vast majority of normal female pool players wear?

Hhmmm, that's strange.

I wonder why Emily would dress that way?

Her playing has improved so much, wouldn't people just notice her talent and knowledge alone?

No one would ever try and elevate their image by wearing provocative and revealing outfits, you guys are just silly.

I met Ine in Auckland, NewZealand in a pool hall in March 2002. She owns a pool room in one of the cities in Norway.

Do u want to play Emily in a after hours match? I will stake Emily.
