Every once in a while, there'd be an awkward shot that I'd miss and I never really felt comfortable. Even a slight change in balance can have a big impact on your performance.
How does that trick go? If you have one foot elevated above the other, it's hard to resist the pressure of somebody smaller's hands with your own hands, because the hips not being aligned causes a problem for strength. Something like that..
Anyways, while attending the Varner/Appleton clinic, Darren mentioned to one girl that she wasn't stable. So, lately, I've been paying much more attention to how I'm balanced on my feet when I'm down on the shot. It seems that even as long as I can recognize that I'm balancing more towards the back foot, I shoot better. I prefer to be 'forward weighted', but just having the feel of how I'm standing has been a benefit.
Does anybody else out there pay much attention to how they're balanced? Do you approach the 'setting' differently? Can this be used for assistance in specific shots?
