Schon Cues

I would consider (imo) Schon to be the top production style cue. They hit great, most look great, and they carry their value fairly well for the type cue they are. Lotsa people looking for Schon cues on the used market.

Speaking of Schon. This is probably one of the nicest ones I have seen personally and imo. Beautiful cue. Though I would never pay anywhere near that for it myself. Not my cue btw heh...

Schon cues are great. I own one and like it. I am curious if you would really benefit from one though. You said you own a viking. That is another good production cue. Matter of fact if you had the same shaft put on a schon and your viking you would be hard pressed to tell the difference IMO.
 
I'm with TheNewSharkster - the shaft is where it is at (unless there is just something wrong with the cue and it is way off balance or something). I have played with a Schon for the past 5 or so years but always paired with a low deflection shaft - and have never regretted it.

If you plan to stick with the production shaft then your best bet would be to go test hit some before you buy. Any new stick will be an adjustment but you might hit a few balls and hate it.

mezz never claimed to be made in the USA. they're made in japan everyone knows that

now that's not even close to true. schon shafts taper and vikings taper are completely different. vikings use the long pro taper and schons taper isn't pulled back nearly as far

Sorry, I had meant they would play close to the same if you put the same shaft on both a viking and schon.
 
IMO......i

Ken_4fun hit the bullseye with his post.

And Bob Runde is a "custom" cue-maker, unlike Mezz or Schon, and Bob only makes one of a kind cues that he designs. While Bob co-owned and operated Schon with Terry Romaine, he would always hand mitre the points and veneers to have sharp points.

it'll still play well but honestly the longer taper will make moving the cueball around easier but harder to control. you have to work at it a little more with a schon shaft but the stiff taper makes control way easier. the less the shaft buckles on hard shots the less you have to compensate for. imo anyway

vikings are great looking but the long taper doesnt work for me at all

All the reason Not to buy a Mezz Imo......Buy American made products :thumbup:
