STERLING WAVE vs JB BASIC RUGGED CUE CASE

John,

I watched the video, with tips up and pins down everything seems to work better, still far too tight in my opinion. I can not see the bottom of the shafts to know which one to pull. It might be a good idea to include instructions mandating the tip up joint down configuration. That was not obvious to me when I received the case, in fact it seemed logical to have tips down, might have saved me the ding.

Still

Don, my deepest apologies that you are having trouble. If you would like I can make you a custom version with less padding and a different interior color. Please send the case back to the place you bought it for a full credit and I will make you one that fits your needs.

Per your suggestion all new shipments of cases from this point onward will come with a small card that fits into the top of the case detailing the various ways to load the case. We had actually done cards for this and I had let it lapse. My apologies for this as well.

You can email me to jb@jbcases.com and we can work out how best to build the case that will take care of you.

Also please email me pictures of the damage to your cue and perhaps I can arrange to have it repaired for you.

You gotta love a man who stands behind their product, and is willing to go above and beyond for customer service. I am proud to own several JB cases and Wave cases.

John, i sent you a pm a few days ago.. i didnt realize you didnt really reply to pm's.. if you could, please reply to it so i dont have to retype the whole thing out again.. it was kinda long.. thanks! chris

You could just go into your PM's, open what you sent to him, copy it and paste it into an email. No re-typing necessary. Of course, this is much easier on a computer than a phone, at least for me. :p

Answered. It is hard for me to keep up with PMs. I have to constantly prune the box and it's annoying. Mike just increased the limit to 200 pms and I hit the limit in a few days.

I need to hire someone just to handle pms, any applicants?

John,

Thank you for the offer, it is appreciated although it wont be necessary. I am considering having the cue refinished as it currently has an oil finish, I may go to a more durable finish. I can have it addressed at that time.

With the proper instruction and some extra care when loading and unloading I should be fine. I do appreciate you addressing the issue though. It was a very professional response and went a long way towards keeping a customer.

Much appreciated.

Don

If the Rugged case came with backpack straps, I'd be sold. I don't find any of the Wave cases to be visibly appealing. The grey/green one is ok, but the rest are hideous on my opinion. The black one would be cool if it didn't have that stupid imprinted design scheme all over it. Functionally though, the Wave case is great. Great cue protection, ergonomics, and backpack straps (a huge selling point to someone who prefers to bike).

The Rugged case has great cue protection, and I like the simple basic looks of it. If it only had the backpack straps standard (without having to go custom from JB and pay frickin $80 shipping from China), I'd snatch one up next week after I get paid, considering I'm looking to buy a new case right now.

Excellent answer in responding to a customers needs. Well done, and another reason I will continue to buy your cases.

I guarantee the extra amount in shipping will be quickly fogotten and you can also customize it and personalize it.

I'm sorry John, but adding the backpack straps would not be worth the extra money to me, when I can buy the Wave case and have them standard. If I were well-off, and had some extra money to waste, I would definitely commission you to make a Rugged case for me with a few extras. Unfortunately (to some) I am working class, and I work hard for every dollar I have. I can't afford to pay $90 extra for backpack straps when I can buy a case that offers the same cue protection w/backpack straps for a better selling point.

you make excellent points

I have two shoulder staps for my rugged case. Both straps are easily clipped onto the single ring on the back and work very well in a backback configuration. I dont think John charges much at all for an extra shoulder strap.

We all work hard for our money. The point is for me is I charge what i pay for shipping. Sometimes the cost of getting exactly what you want is higher than the cost of making a compromise. But when you pay the higher price you get the satisfaction of having and using something that is exactly as you desired it to be.

And in that case the extra cost is absorbed. I am not trying to make a sale of a custom rugged here just explaining how extra costs can be thought of.

75 in shipping is .20cts a day over a year. You can expect to use the rugged case for many years and so the extra price you paid drops every year to 10cts 5cts and so on.

I guarantee you that you do something every day that wastes more than 20cts we all do.

So while I absolutely understand up front cost comparisons and use them all the time it is important to factor in cost vs. use over time as well.

I think you are well served with either case but the basic rugged is the tougher case of the two.

So clearly your choice as to what you can afford right now. My job is simply to explain the options we offer.

There is another solution as well. It does not take much effort to make strong wrap around straps to any case which you could attach two d rings to and two shoulder straps. You can buy or make straps and thus have a backpack type solution for any case you own.

Send me an email and i will send you a quick sketch of what i would do.

maybe im crabby tonight
you can tell me the truth im s big boy
but for those of you that want to discuss the rugged cases and your preferences to it
why dont you start a jb rugged case thread???
this thread was to compare the 2 cases
not for john to work out problems to make sales

I think when you start a comparison thread then you will inevitably get discussion on all aspects.

That is just life on forum. Although we would all like threads we start to go only in the direction we want they tend to take on a life of their own.

For me i simply have to represent our cases as best i can whenever people make comments that need an answer.
