Linen Wraps

Years ago I quit buying cues with linen wraps. My hands sweat profusely in the summer. When I would play long sets my cue would feel like a heavy log.

Has anyone ever weighed their cue to see how much the moisture that gets absorbed into the wrap affected the weight of their cue?

Fully soaked, I doubt a linen wrap would add enough water weight to be noticed.

So, what wrap do you use? Or, do you go wrapless?

I went to wrapless cues. I'll have to play with one of my old cues with linen this summer and see what, if any weight change there is. Thought someone here might've already looked into this and had some numbers.

As much as you sweat, I'm surprised your able to hole a cue with a clear finish.

I'm just a beginner (18 months) but it seems to me that a wrapless cue (clear finish) is a lot grabbier than a linen wrap. I'm considering that my next cue will be a sneaky pete for that reason. I always feel like my current linen-wrapped cue is sliding around in my fingers.

I'm surprised that you'd notice the weight difference. I thought the linen on cue wraps was waxed, which I would think would probably as a side effect reduce (but not eliminate) it's ability to absorb moisture... Or maybe it depends on how much wax?

For example, my cue linen fairly "waxy" and somebody actually spilled beer on my cue butt just last night. The liquid just rolled right over the linen and didn't even effect it at all. I just dabbed it with a napkin, about three minutes after, and there was no trace of wetness.

These are my observations as well

I hate linen wrap. It has to be leather or wrapless. Linen slides through my fingers. I grew up playing with Meucci and never could adjust to the naked linen.

Linen and women, not much difference....I'm Extremely picky.

Where do you get a fake elephant ear wrap as I would be interested in having one.

Thanks

Kevin

I have no way to prove it, but I bet the large majority of elephant ear wraps are really cow leather with an elephant ear pattern. If someone does regular leather wraps they should be able to get hold of an elephant ear wrap. I paid $125 for mine installed here in NYC.
