I love old action matches like these. Ronnie had to shoot one handed every other turn at the table. Although, I felt bad for Keith when he coached Harry to clear a ball out of Ronnie's hole but made it for him. :)

Does anyone know who won this match and what the bet was?

I wanted to watch the full match but couldn't find any more of the match.:frown:

Thank you,

Thanks ToddW

Right now I'm listening to Ronnie Allen's Road Stories uploaded by Lenny. Crazy life that guy lived and said he wouldn't do a single thing different.

Funny thing about that video clip is between matches, you can hear Jimmy Mataya barking at Harry Platis and Keith, wanting to bet it up on the side against them. He liked Ronnie's side of it.

What a trip: Jimmy Mataya, Keith McCready, Ronnie Allen, and Harry along for the ride.

I had the match on DVD some years back. Harry plays brilliantly and his consistency makes the difference, outshining Ronnie's mastry of one handed play. Keith is in Harry's ear every inning about the correct move. I really enjoyed the match but being an RA fan, it was difficult to see him lose.

He did lose that wager, and there were a few moments of frustration before the game was over. It was hard to watch RA lose but the outcome was clear toward the end. I guess that's when I stopped enjoying the match. It's the same reason I find no pleasure viewing a caged lion at the zoo. (Tigers too Ratnip!)

Harry and Keith made the right game that day.

RA loved to match up shooting one handed every other shot. He would sometime shoot a one handed shot a couple times in a row if it was an easy shot and they did not catch him so he could shoot a tough shot two handed.

Remember Monk, always played 1 handed? at Great American. dont seee much of that anymore.
