The Decider Day One Thoughts

I hate to tell ya Im a huge Earl fan I think he was at one time the best rotation player and possibly ever , but that day is not today ,

That's good to hear! Yes, he is past his prime. But, that doesn't mean he can't and won't catch that high gear anymore! He still can hold his own at the top levels. Doesn't always win anymore, but doesn't shame himself with his playing abilities either.

There is a foul on the break when Earl is breaking at 17-18. At game 36 Earl pushes the Cueball right before he breaks but he does scratch don't know if it was the pool Gods or what LOL. Wonder if he would of not said anything if he didn't scratch?

I was distracted momentarily when this shot happened, was probably popping off in the chat room. Couple that with my audio being only clear enough to make out @ 1/3 of what they said, and I asked myself "what went down?"

Did he double hit the CB or ?

Yeah right before his break shot. Didn't really matter though cause he did scratch.

I was rather surprised, and, I have to admit, rather disappointed . To be honest, I was expecting and looking forward to a lot of break and runnouts. There were amazingly few. They each only had seven, and only one three pack, and each had a two pack. ...

According to Pool-Trax, here are the break-and-run results from the 9-Ball and 8-Ball.

9-Ball
- Shane had 9 B&R games in 29 breaks, for 31%. He had one 2-pack and 7 singles.
- Earl had 5 B&R games in 21 breaks, for 24%. His 5 B&R's were all singles.

8-Ball
- Shane had 16 B&R games in 30 breaks, for 53%. He had one 8-pack (to end the match), one 2-pack, and 6 singles.
- Earl had 8 B&R games in 22 breaks, for 36%. He had one 4-pack, one 2-pack, and two singles.

That 8 pack to end the match was so sick! I wish we got to see pros play barbox 8 ball more often or big table 8 ball with tight tight pockets or slow cloth. It's some of the most interesting pool you can watch.

But, if you hadn't yet dosed off, I really want to send out kudos to the Decider moderators - they were on their game 100%. I had small, minute issues, CMBSWPFFFT (or whatever his name is Bob ;)) jumped in on AZ hours before Day 1 kickoff. Then during night 1 via chat PM, our AZ's Slo-Mo-Holic dropped @ 30 minutes straight, guiding me through things and teaching me (he's pretty funny too, owe ya a beer!). He had backup tech assistance by SharkeN-1. Then Day2, SharkeN-1 PM'd me in chat to follow up. He gave me his ph # which I saved in my cell. He asked me to call him anytime in the future if I might have ANY POVPOOL thoughts/concerns.

Hats off to these guys!

Thanks for the kudos, Kat! It's very rewarding to do some good work with such a great team. SharkeN and snuuker and Bob and I are always willing to help with computer or stream issues. That goes for you, and anybody else, on any stream. If you see us in a chat, say hello and we'll be there to help.

The chat room has been a ton of fun during these matches. It really adds a lot to the experience when we collectively catch a gear in the chat room, doesn't it? :)

I'll see you in the 10-ball match, and hopefully many more streams after that.

PS I won't forget that beer. :)

?? I had Shane in the 9 ball with a three pack (middle game was a 1-9 combo), and two two packs (one of the two packs was another early game)

I couldn't even see the scratch happen, just that it did happen. I guess my internet sucks so bad that for this streaming is was like watching a whole lot of still pictures one after another.

Could we have a match called Stop Shane?

For 10,000 any player or backer can write out the rules that will apply to both players. Shane will play with those rules.

does anyone even want to take a swing that way?

I think Shane has consistently stepped up to play on any table and any rules. About the only place he has not agreed to is to play Johnny on Johnny's table.

Maybe Shane did run an 8 pack (he was sooo lucky ;) ). But the chat ran 12! And it's all your fault Slo-Mo! I especially enjoyed when Sc5 pm'd me and offered his $400 to my $200 on today's 10 ball, after me posting in chat "will anyone bet Sc5?" and @ 800 people immediately posted "NO!". Priceless.

I'll swing. My rules to match up against Shane:

- He wears boxing gloves
- Plays one handed with a broom handle, convex end
- Is blindfolded
- Has to take a shot of Jager before every inning

Wait.... I still don't like my end. I retract! The Kid outruns more nuts than a squirrel on roids fresh outta hibernation.

I didn't wafch, Neil, so I'm going purely by Pool-Trax info for this event. But my experience is that they are pretty accurate. In the 9-Ball, Shane did have two short games -- in both Game #7 and Game #36 he made 3 balls on the break and then ran 2 balls to get out. But he had no 3-packs and only one 2-pack, per Pool-Trax.
