How much should it of cost my club to have two table leveled, reclothed (not simonis, a slightly nappy cloth, don't know the brand), and the pockets reset in place?

Does a $1000 sound about right, or is that a great deal, or worst highway robbery???

Depends

The Answer depends on a few of things.

1 what condition are the Tables currently in?

2 Who's doing the work/ their reputation and quality, do they really know what they are doing?

Do you know what a quality table mechanic should do for that money?

4. Did you get references for the mechanic from this Forum?
If not, I would before I spent a penny.

The work was done.

The tables were in ok condition but he put new cloth (as stated slightly nappy cloth), and redid or replaced the pockets plus leveling the tables.

I don't know any of his references, just currious if that sounds like a resonable price.

I just called my local billiards shop which is 2.5 hours away. They were gonna charge $500 for one 9ft table. Simonis 860 was the felt 2 be installed. That sounds high to me but that's also the only quote I ever got.

Prices can also vary regionally. Cost of living is higher in some areas than in others, and prices will reflect that. Out of curiosity now that the work is done, do you feel that the price paid for the work done is too high? I'm getting the impression that is the case since you're posting about it.

For your every day guy to replace cloth and reassemble the table with a woolen cloth, that price does seem high relative to prices in my area, but if he knows what he's doing, did a quality job with good quality cloth, re-leveled the slate well, and took care of any other issues with the tables, that might be about right.
