I cut up a curly maple board on my new band saw. The was some green marking paint on the end of the board that left a sticky green streak on my cast iron band saw table. I cleaned it off with a paper towel and some denatured alcohol.

The next morning I had a rust mark in the cleaned area. My humidity is 47% and I never thought that could happen.

When the saw was new, after I cleaned off the cosmoline from the table, I waxed it with renaissance wax and it was good.

I sanded the rust off with some 600 and re waxed it.

I won't do that again.

Alcohol draws water, and removes wax and oil.
