Does anyone know how the world cup of pool for team USA was picked? I was under the assumption that the top 2 players listed on BCA points were the 2 players selected for team USA! But yet mike Dechaine gets screwed out of a spot he deserved an worked all year to get. Hopefully someone can give some insight on this.

It's a made for TV event, nothing more.
The Shane choice is obvious. Archer went 6-0 in the last Mosconi Cup, the last team event played in Europe. Tough to argue with these choices.
Mike would also have been a good choice, but really, not much room for complaint here.
I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with it being a made for TV event. During one of the matches for the Philippines the other day, the announcer mentioned that Biado was the top ranked Pinoy but was not on the team because at the time of selection, Dennis & Corteza were the top 2 for their country in the BCA standings. So this is probably how all the teams were picked.
It's rating based pick. Matchroom have been quite open about this..
I would agree with this assessment. cos if you look at other teams there were some arbitrary picks rather than rankings or objective picks eg. the Ouschan siblings representing Austria, Jenstch picked instead of Thorsten for Germany
This is neither a true team event (team event should have bother singles and doubles). It is only doubles event which is probably the only major doubles event around
So you wonder about the value of this tourney aside from its entertainment and ratings appeal. Reminds me of FIFA World Club championship which even though it brings together champs from all continents is not regarded as a pedigree event. That is not to take away anything from champs Philippines who are deserving winners.
