:: Yang Case - Full Body Tooling :: Dragon, Buddha & Tiger - Most Colourful Case???

Just received this work of art from Master Yang and am totally blown away.

Truth be told i'm not a big fan of themed cases...i find them cheesy...however i'm in awe of the result. This case was specially ordered for my bestest buddy in NYC and it's only here with me for a short transit period before i send it out to him.

The case started with just a theme of Chinese Dragon, then he(my buddy) came up with the idea of using the Buddha Head, and it then became the Calabash Head. When the first design draft came up it was incredibly impressive, however he wanted to add a Tiger into the whole set up. It wasn't easy cos everything was tight and already designed, but Yang reworked the entire layout and when we saw the final draft there was little either of us could change but wait for it to materialise.

This case was suppose to be a simple Black case with natural colour tooling, however i decided to spice things up and surprise my buddy and we went with colours and it went crazy from there.

The top of the case reads Tiger, Buddha, Dragon.

I really hopes he likes this case...

Here comes the pictures....

Yang recently told me that all his full custom one of ones will feature a special insignia which is his name.

A small reunion of Yang's masterpieces.

Here are some pictures of the case as it was being tooled.
Apologise for the picture quality as these were taken by Yang's phone..

Last but not least...a picture of Master Yang together with his masterpiece!

Some more pictures i took today (8th Oct):

Lol! This case is unbelievable! I love the white tiger! Freaking awesome! You got some nice stuff brother!

WOW !!!

It's really amazing to see true talented artists choosing leather as their canvas and making it functional as a cue case.

the tooling and detailing speaks volumes for itself!! congrats on your new case! and you have a nice collection of armor cases! Thanks for sharing!

THIS is how a wrapped case ought to be done. When you see a design laid out flat it often looks great but then when it's wrapped around the interior it loses much of it's punch and story and becomes a bunch of tooling on a tube. But when the design is planned for the space properly then the impact becomes even greater when it's wrapped. This is such a case. It is powerful and evocative on every side, even the seam side.

I bow in respect to the work that Yang does. Not only are his themes masterfully thought out but the construction details are superb. As everyone knows I am very critical of how cases are built and after studying this case desperately looking for anything "wrong" I have found that the only thing wrong is that I spent an hour looking for anything wrong :-)

This man's cue case work is among the greatest ever. Every piece seems to raise the bar even farther.

This case is way beyond spectacular!!!!!!!!!!

The tiger tooling is really impeccable. I can't photograph the details but Yang really added so much details in tooling using different depth and colours and shadings to make the tiger fur look so dam good...

That's a big thing coming from you John, but i have to agree with you that this is a work of art.
The composition itself is just superb, but his tooling details are just crazy. I took those macro shots of the tooling for people like yourself who are in the know of what good tooling's all about.

Little details like the horns of the devil where it protrudes where he uses different depths of tooling to make the horns look real and there's the details of the leaves and the tiger fur...i'm in awe of this man's work. Running your hands over this case even feels like there's brailles on this case and there's some hidden coded scriptures on it...

Pure nuts...

Still an understatement but i'll take it :D

Some more pictures i took today and i've changed the first 7 pictures in my first post...took better overall pictures.
