Possible Burton Spain blank????

It's been suggested to me that this forearm may be a Burton Spain?

Any info on identifying a Burton forearm would be much appreciated!

Early cue by Tim -- shorter points -- figured forearm which is unusual for Tim's earlier cues!? May have to lose the wrap :D

Probably either John Davis or Joel Hercek would be the direction to go. I'm thinking the wrap would have to be removed to see the bottom of the splice.
 
If its Burton's blank, a full splice, looking under the wrap will tell thd tale. His full splice was unique.
 
The geometry looks good....but yes, need to check under wrap to be sure, that's assuming the splice was left in tact.

What cue is it? Old Scruggs?

Now that Nick is off suspension.. maybe he will chime in... but according to the experts.. tim never made a full splice cue... :slap::deadhorse:

Don't think I have ever heard of the Scruggs shop using a B. Spain forearm, but I guess anything is possible. Seeing the full cue now, I think it's likely a Bill McDaniel constructed forearm. Nice old one !! :thumbup:
 
Having bought cues from Tim since he started on his own in 1978, I'm not aware of him using any blanks of anyone else's creation, Spain or otherwise. The points shown are perfectly consistent with his points during that late 70s and early 80s era, when he and Bob Frey made the TS cues. I'd be surprised if they were anyone elses.
