TEX Custom Cue, pretty rare cue here!

I wanted to share my new Tex Custom Cue, I received the cue in need of quite a bit of TLC. I sent the cue off to Scott at Proficient and he did an excellent job of breathing new life into this cue.

This cue is a classic example of Tex's trademark diamond points. I apologize the pics are not better than they are.

Scott added a new white linen wrap with black specs.

The cue has a long 5/16x14 pin and flat faced joint.

The Hoppe ring below gives the cue a nice sophisticated look.

I'm curious what this cue might deliver in a sale? What is a reasonable asking price for the cue with one shaft? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I like it a lot!
I really like his signature elongated diamond inlay (not sure if it's a inlay) in the points

I can appreciate the fact that his points are so close together above the wrap.
It would be safe to say that wasn't the norm 10-15 years ago..

the elongated diamond in the points is actually made during the splicing process...

i was just a friends house and he had a forearm that tex once made that was cut to small... it was an 8 point verson with 8 diamons and the smaller points were ivory.. it was amazing..

i told him he should have a jump cue made out of it.. it would look awesome!

tex cues are kinda rare.. but being from his home town.. i have seen quite a few of them.. but not as much lately though...

i know there is atleast 5 or so members on here that have them..

looks pretty cool

no idea what its worth, I wish it had piloted joint- maybe we could work something out

why did he stop making cues??
 
here are some pics of the some of the last cues i believe Tex made in about 2001... there was about 8 cues in the group, but these pics only show 4 of them...i remember there being some steel jointed ones as well..

Hmmm....perhaps it's just me but I'm just not a huge fan of hiding veneer work or points with inlays or in his case from what I'm reading here he did it during splicing. I love the look and appreciate a good clean tight and sharp veneered point makes the cue complete.

yes.. its not an inlay.. when he puts the veneers together he adds that in. i will look for a close up.. but in most of them, the diamond at the end of the points is the same piece of wood as the inside of the bottom of the points..

That is a Tex trademark feature, don't know why or how he came up with it, but I've never seen one of his cues without it.
