Weird mannerism's at the table

I do that as well; Many players do. It sometimes curls up too.

Lou Figueroa thinks we're ignorant.
Hmm his statement alone shows immense ignorance.

Its true what you say about the guys you know giving him the 4 and out. I know a few who probably wouldn't let him win a single game in a race to 9 even with the 4 and out that do it.

He can carry on playing at his C+ level, reliving memories of "this one time at [insert well known tournament here] I played [insert name drop here] and was unlucky to lose 11-2". Ignorance is bliss.

I know guys that could give you the 4 and out, that do that. They must be real ignorant.

Edit- To stay on topic, though, I see a lot of players that bob their heads up and down while looking at a shot. Then you have the "I chalk a certain way, because it works better" people, like Mike Dechaine.

Then don't watch snooker, where virtually everyone does it, the ignoramuses.

I know! "And I find it 'annoying' how some players that never learned proper fundamentals turn their hips and feet 45-degrees to the shotline. How do they shoot like that, with their hips and joints not facing into the shotline? Friggin' pool players with their wonky fundamentals."

There are a couple people in our league who like to stand there starring at the balls for about 7 minutes before missing the shot. Not even moving around like they are actually thinking about anything....

Whilst they should be slowly tortured with piano wire, then taken into the car park and shot, the ones that really get me are those that get down on the shot, then get up, shake their heads, run the cue through their hands at eye level, sway left then right, chalk three times and repeat the entire process 15 times whilst grimacing as if in physical pain, then finally play the shot they were always going to.

Get. On. With. It.

Tongue out

I know this guy that darts his tongue in and out of his mouth when he's down on a shot. :p

There is another guy that hums

Michael Jordan used to stick his tongue out sometimes when shooting.

I had a teammate years ago who did the same thing...he was a very strong player.

I think that's probably where I developed it. Not from playing snooker alone, but by watching and copying what Hendry and Davis did as a kid. Probably started out as a concious effort and gradually forgot I was doing it.

I take it you're a bit too young to remember Tony Meo, who turned it into an art form. There have been studies on whether it's innate and calming/therapeutic, or a learned practice/trend, but I can't remember the conclusions.

Lint pickers: That's the guy that thinks he is head grounds keeper and holds up the game while he services the table.

I know a guy that farts all the time while he is at the table.

Wait a second here, thats me.

Gotta quit eating nachos loaded with jalapenos.

1) Archer fidgets and likes to removes balls out of pockets
2) Ricky Yang has a habit of actively pointing and gesturing where he is going to shoot. Other players do it but as much as him
3) At the recent Women's World 10 Ball, a player from Singapore wore shades/ sunglasses ::)

Meo was a little bit before my time. I would assume its a learned practice going on my experiences but it turns into a theraputic action and helps with timing of my stroke. For years I thought it was a way to relieve tension in the bridge hand, and maybe it is but its not the primary reason for doing it I think.

"Toledo" Timmy Heath.

He's absolutely EXHAUSTING to even WATCH play.

I saw him in Tunica.....vs. John Brumback in the Banks event. When it was over, and JB had won, he said, "Damn. That was like playing 2 rounds all at once!"

Timmy is like watching a train wreck. You want to look away, but you can't. YouTube him, if you dare.

At that same regional, somebody asked me if I wanted to play some banks, so I said yeah, let's get down to it. They said, "no, not me, this guy Tim Heath". I had already heard he hit em pretty well, so I wasn't too keen on throwing away what little money I had available, then I heard the stories about him being (a bit of) a nutjob, so I decided to pass on that one.

You should have played with him. His name is Sonny and he plays for money. But he will play cheap. I had fun playing $5 a rack nine ball with him and didn't really lose much in the 45 minutes before I had to go play a match.

Sang Lee used to do that all the time when he was in stroke.watched a video of him recently on a 15 point run, and the commentators said that you knew he was in dead stroke when he was doing it,because it was the only time he did it. His opponents had even said they looked at the table, and there was nothing there to begin with.

My habit is more internal, but I keep a four count going inside my head when shooting. Helps me establish a rythm.
