Deuel "Excited" About IBSF World Snooker Experience

Thanks, now I am educated to what Ding had to go through. And Tim is right as well.

I'm always right. I'm TIRED of being right.

All you lot ever have to do is prove me wrong, yet you never do. SHOW ME DA MONEY!

They say there's an exception that proves every rule. Find me the pool player that proves this. One. Just one. Just one, lil pool player that can play snooker at pro level.

Not liking something doesn't mean it's not true. Deal with it.

Obviously, you haven't been paying attention.
Ding Junhui won three consecutive ranking tournaments this year.
Last time that triple was accomplished was in 1993, by Stephen Hendry.

Oh please. That's REALLY reaching. You know as well as I do Ding's history and it has absolutely NO relevance to this debate whatsoever. Frankly, I expected better from a proper snooker fan.

I remember hearing Ding tipped to be world champion within 3 years when he was FIFTEEN! That is he only just achieving success now is testament to how difficult this game is. Ding is prodigious talent but a bottler - or at least has been until now.

Action today

As far as I can tell about 11 am eastern time the "P Group" matches will begin.

Zhao plays Iulian - this one is pretty much irrelevant

Corey plays Lee Walker from Wales - Lee Walker seems to be a very good player who coasts sometimes in his matches. Yesterday, after Vaitzman tied things up at 2-2, Walker simply turned up the heat and dominated Vaitzman thereafter. And Walker let Iulian take a frame from him. So Corey's results may depend on how intense Walker plays. Corey's goal should be to win 2 frames, as did Vaitzman.

Vaitzman plays Baldandorj - These are the two guys, one of whom Corey has to displace. to advance to the knockout round. Baldandorj has already played and beaten Corey, but if Vaitzman beats Baldandorj and Corey beats Vaitzman, they will all have an equal number of wins and losses and it will go to frames W-L. On the other hand, if Baldandorj beats Vaitzman, then most likely Corey's advancing will depend straightforwardly on beating Vaitzman when they match up on Monday.

Either way, Corey has to beat Vaitzman on Monday to advance. But if Vaitzman loses to Baldandorj, Corey's win will suffice to advance him. But if Baldandorj loses today, Corey's win will simply push it to frames won and lost. So it's very much to Corey's advantage for Baldandorj to win today. This is a big game!

Svb makes a living off of pool. Why would he blow a good living to take up a game that you cannot master after your a teenager. You give pool players all kinds of shit for not playing snooker. Them they do and it's the end of the world for u. I don't root against euros and Asians winning American pool games. They add a new dimension. Baseball was America's past time; however the addition of Japanese and Hispanics has added to the game

You need to clarify what point you are making, and who's side you are on.

You are a troll. The minute somebody American tries snooker you pray to god that they suck. You knock new blood in the game. I agree that corey will never win the world championship but I don't run around screaming it. American interest would benefit snooker I just don't see why people making a living at pool should throw away what they can make to try snooker. As u say if you don't start as a child you will never succeed

Where is your evidence for that? If you look in this very thread, you'll see I wished Corey all the best and hoped he'd win the tournament, and that he qualifies for the pro circuit in turn.

You really haven't been paying attention. Far from not wanting America to succeed in snooker, I constantly bang the drum for snooker fundamentals. There will be nothing better for cue sports world wide than that. But how much sympathy can you give to people who doggedly and determinedly refuse to change?

My point is the same as yours: this idea you can teach a pool player to play snooker is ludicrous. It is perfectly possible for a snooker pro to play pro pool but it is virtually impossible for the reverse to happen.

Anyone believing otherwise is a fool.

5 perfect frames aka 147

Players with more:
Stephen Hendry -11
Ronnie O'Sullivan - 11
John Higgins - 7
All three are at least 10 years older than Ding.

2005 China Open (as a wildcard)
2005 & 2009 UK Championship
2006 Northern Ireland Trophy
2008 Jiangsu Classic
2011 Masters
2012 Welsh Open
2013 PTC Grand Finals
2013 Shanghai Masters
2013 Indian Open
2013 International Championship

UK Championship and Northern Ireland Trophy – before the age of 20 – matched only by Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins.

2012 World Championship semi-finalist

2012 Championship League

I guess this could be an argument for both sides here but -

Morgan, Dale, Drago, Davis, Hann, O'Sullivan, Ford, Johnson, Thorburn, Williams, White & Selby.

28 World Snooker Finals I make it.

All competed in individual world level American Pool tournaments including World Championships, World Pool Masters, World Cup of Pool, World Pool Leagues, IPT & US Opens.

I can only spot Drago as a winner in any of those events and he's hardly the poster-boy for Snooker fundamentals.

GO COREY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee Walker

Lee Walker is torching Corey, 2 frames to zip, and up 40 to 16 in the 3rd.

A lot depends on Vaitzman versus Baldandorj, which is nip and tuck. If Corey doesn't win any frames against Walker, then pretty much Baldandorj has to beat Vaitzman for Corey to have a chance to advance with a win against Vaitzman on Monday.

So Baldandorj has to beat Vaitzman.

Vaitzman wins the first frame. This is going to be close.

Walker

Walker is torturing Corey. I expect he knows who Corey is and is giving one to Corey on behalf of the Europeans for the Mosconi Cup. As far as I can tell in the 4th frame Walker has a break and 106 and counting.

Vaitzman is manhandling Baldandorj so far.

So probably Corey's chances of advancing are being eliminated here.

But Corey can just have fun and continue to enjoy the experience. It is by far the most international tournament he has ever played in.

I don't know why people want to make fun of or belittle Baldandorj (I see him referred to as a "goat farmer" or something like that). He obviously can play very good snooker. He won that PotBlack Mongolian snooker championship in 2003 or so. I don't know exactly what that is but the dude can play.

Plus, Mongolia is where Wudamu is from ...

Baldandorj

Baldandorj has won the 2nd frame! So it's 1 to 1, and hope remains!

2 to 2 at 2 pm Eastern time. This match is going to be epic!

Baldandorj wins the 5th frame, so now it's 3 to 2.

Baldandorj

If Baldandorj pulls off the win over Vaitzman today, then Corey will advance by beating Vaitzman Monday. But that would be a great achievement for Corey, Vaitzman is strong.

Looks like Baldandorj has put down some sort of defensive hammer. In the 6th and hopefully final frame, B leads 31 to 1. So far so good.

Very true. Boy, did he back the wrong horse!

If you mean he should have gone over to snooker as Davis you are probably right - altho I don't know if snooker purses were like they are now when Davis switched to the game - and perhaps Lindrum made a comfortable living with exhibitions and endorsements - eg - Eddie Charlton another Australian made a comfortable living for exhibitions and endorsements and was an all- around player English billiards ,snooker, 8 ball.

I mentioned to Justin (ou est?), I think, that I'd bet Corey would lose to the 15 year old who drew Selby in the first round of the UK Championships.

After seeing him play, I'd stick my house on him - an incredible talent. Right handed, left handed, he's knocking em in off the light shade.

3-1 at the mid session interval. Shane Castle - remember the name. This kid is going to be HUGE.

Damn!!!
We agree.
Who'd have thunk it

Vaitzman

Vaitzman tied it up, 3 to 3!!

Hill-hill!!

This has been the epic match of the day. They have been playing for 4 hours!

They are engaged in a safety match right now, cat and mouse game.

Can Baldandorj do it?
