I loved it and Earl has always been my favorite player. I got misty eyed when he said he would sit around making a bridge and thinking about pool while in school. I used to make a bridge like that too. I got made fun of because I did that.

I was a good documentary and good production as well. I was a little disappointed they didn't talk about the Million Dollar Challenge.

i just watched the documentary as well. i thought it was well done, as it is difficult to put earls career and life story into such a short time frame.

IMO earl is a great player and has done well for the sport, despite his antics. i dont think antics is something that turns people off to any sport- IMO that assumption is weak. the problems of pool are more fundamental and have to do with current american culture.

earl vs. keith in ohio was the first pro match i watched on film playing pool, and they made it look easy. earl caught my eye, before i even knew his name i said "wow"

ive given my life to pool the past two years, and have learned a ton. this documentary makes you appreciate the game and dedication it takes to be great. what caught my ear in the documentary was him saying something to the affect of "all of the loss's"- and i know that feeling, because when you put your heart into something and you lose- it stings badly.

anyways i liked the documentary, hopefully people come to appreciate the beauty of the sport.

I don't think I really ever got Earl until I saw this and not because of the things he said in this video, but because of the things his peers said.

Where can we watch/buy the entire thing? I've seen the teaser trailer for it, but not the complete program.

He's a disturbed genius. This video made me hate him slightly less but only slightly. I will say it was very well done. I wish they had gone into more detail on some things such as color of money, million dollar challenge etc. I guess that would would've taken too long. Oh well.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Earl is looking too good? The past few years have not been kind to him.

I agree. However, I have a love-hate for the guy. When he's playing Efren, I hate him. When he's playing Drago, I root for him. I think it depends on who he is playing that makes me love him or hate him.

I know how it feels to be him. When pool is everything to you it does sting a lot more to play bad and loose. Now I have a family it isn't the only thing in the world. One time in life pool was everything to me and even now I still strive for my dreams I had as a kid learning to play. I wanted to win the US Open.

My son does this all the time

Concerning the bolded, what you're seeing is the result of someone who took up serious aerobic-style exercise (e.g. running) as a middle-aged adult. As you know, Earl's quite the runner these days, but his body (mainly his face) shows what happens when you have a body that is "used to looking" a certain way for a middle-aged man, but exercise has changed course of the body's fat-depositing mechanism such that the usual-suspect areas aren't getting the fat deposits they're expecting.

When you have a runner that has run like Earl all his life, he will look differently than a person who decided to run like Earl when entering his middle age. (That person who'd run all his life will look arguably better, because the body has been tuned over the lifetime to deal with high-caliber aerobic exercise, rather than having to "suddenly" deal with it mid-course.)

Regardless, I think Earl looks great. He certainly looks better than if he'd be like any other middle-aged American man with "Dunlop disease." (Dunlop disease is when the belly "dunlop" ["done lop"] over the belt. ;) )

I have always thought Earl was awesome.
I think he deserves a lot more respect and recognition for his talent and commitment to the game.

Thats what this game is all about. You have to have a passion for it. Like Earl, the first time I hit a ball I was hooked.

50 years later, I'm still hooked.

When my son and I and play, after a few hours he says "ain't you getting tired" I always look at him and say " I can do this all day and all night and not get tired". We generally have to leave because he says he has had enough...............light weight. :)

Love the game. :)
