Mosconi Updates Please

I thought it was a race to 11.

Technically hehe.

It was pretty much over after the first day and was really pretty much over at 8-2.

Like watching a pack of wolves chase down a deer, the deer may be looking OK at the start since it's faster but you know what's going to happen at the end, you're just HOPING it will be OK.

The fatalists are coming out of the woodwork, Jennie.

Well, if there's five matches a day and Europe wins this match, pushing them to 11 matches won, there's no way Team USA can win. Wouldn't it be over? Are they going to play the rest of the matches even though Team USA can't win?

So I'm right. If Team Euro wins this match, the Mosconi Cup is over.

They've been the laziest so far as position play is concerned, while Feijen and Immonen have been playing near perfect pool, would you really bet your chips on them?

They're rolling along well right now but they'll soon run out of adrenaline as evident of the past couple days.

I'm just saying don't count them out until its over...Morris and Hatch can be a great doubles team. I'm just trying to be optimistic as I'm not ready to give up on team USA.

No, the first to reach 11 wins, and the Cup is over. I mean, I get Randy's point, but you know what? What difference will the gratuitous whining make? How long have we been whining about pool in the US here on these forums?

JCIN's right -- this will put an exclamation point on the problems. It's not talent. It's leadership, teamsmanship, cohesion, selfishness / "what's in it for me?", etc.

It has to be appealing for the viewers. Multiple races to 25+ isn't the way to go.

It's great in the TAR format. You can't do that in a tournament with 128 payers though, but it's tough to truly pick the best player in a race to 7 or 9, it's really the best player NOW, which could be almost anyone at that level. Justin even asked several times what type of races we'd like to see and also he talks to the players what they want to play. They and us have guided the long match format as much as anyone, it's not just the promoters saying "you will play till 7", it's the players themselves going over the rules with whatever Justin looks for from the forums.

its done dude :) in reality team usa should be bumped from the cup and they should bring in an asian country.

The whining is one thing, but I'm sick and tired of the good ol' boy clubs.

Oh, I though you were replying to the other poster that is was not "over the first day" that it's a race to 11 even though Euro was up 5-0 first day.

Yes this year it's to 11. I don't know the score now as all the streams I can get to at work are dead, but if Euro is at 10, one more and the guys are heading home.

Totally agree with you, I feel bad for SVB, he's single-handedly carried the team and both points that he won were in doubles play, so that speaks volumes.

Trying to be as optimistic as possible but Morris, Hatch and Earl makes it hard. He literally said last match "I give up."

And that's a whole nuther ball o' wax, Jennie. Add that to the list of issues with pool here in the U.S.

I find it a wee bit annoying that Rodney and Dennis both use their cuesticks as a pointer on the table between every shot. I don't get it. :embarrassed2:

As much as I want USA to win, is anyone else dreading the match between Archer and Souquet? Slowest matchup in Mosconi Cup history...
